WEMBOREE: Changing the Mindset from “ME” to “WE” | Youth in Action

The WEMBOREE brought together young leaders at Hotel Alejandro, Tacloban City on January 30, 2026 for a purposeful gathering focused on disaster risk reduction and management. It created a safe and engaging space for youth to learn about DRRM and climate change while recognizing their role in keeping communities prepared. The activity emphasized that resilience begins when young people choose to take part and take responsibility.

Key sessions focused on leadership, teamwork, and partnerships in DRRM, as well as community risk mapping and preparedness planning. Participants also learned basic life-saving skills and first-response techniques through practical and interactive discussions. Youth action planning and commitment setting helped turn shared learning into clear and doable actions.

Two (2) Dulag PYAP members, Jacqueline Daisog Daisog and Lorence Mark Creer actively participated and represented their organization with pride. Their involvement highlighted the growing voice of local youth in resilience and preparedness initiatives. With the guidance of resource speakers from DILG RO8, LGCDO, OCD Regional Office 8, the Bureau of Fire Protection, and local government partners, the youth moved together from “ME” to “WE” through collective action.
