Inspiring Excellence: External Benchmarking Visit
In pursuit of professional learning and strengthened collaboration with other libraries, librarians and support staff from across Negros Oriental State University (NORSU) campuses, led by Ms. Collette O. Abequibel, PhD, Library Services Head of NORSU, conducted a benchmarking visit to the Foundation University Library.
The delegation began the visit with a courtesy call to Dr. Charlotte Cariño, University Chancellor; Dr. Romario Ybañez, Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs; and Ms. Prof. Glene May D. Lusares, Assistant Vice Chancellor for Academic Support Services. The University officials provided a comprehensive overview of the institution’s services and facilities, and their valuable insights into its operations made the benchmarking activity both meaningful and worthwhile.
Following this, Dr. Briccio M. Merced, Jr., RL, LPT, University Librarian of the Foundation University Library, together with his team, toured the visitors around one of the newest facilities at the FU Main Campus—the Paws Place. This innovative space is designed to serve the FU Community as a venue for quiet relaxation, collaborative activities, and various group functions.
The delegation was then guided to the University Library to formally proceed with their benchmarking objectives. The visit commenced with a brief presentation on the User Assistance and Control Unit, where Mr. Marlo G. Faustorilla shared an overview of his roles and responsibilities. The benchmarking activity continued as librarians Ms. Ravena June Infante, RL; Mr. Justin U. Piang, RL; and Ms. Celsa E. Modesto, RL, along with support staff members Ms. Cherry Mae Filosopo and Ms. Lixcelle C. Gaso, MBA, discussed the functions of their respective sections and provided insights into their roles and responsibilities within the library system.
To conclude the visit, the delegation gathered at the Commons Viewing Space (CVS) of the Learning Commons to listen to the team’s presentation highlighting several of the Foundation University Library’s best practices.
As libraries remain vital partners in delivering quality education, collaborative initiatives such as benchmarking visits strengthen institutional linkages and provide valuable opportunities for growth and development, ultimately ensuring the delivery of excellent services to their patrons.
