May 23, 2025 || Gender Sensitivity Training for City Hall Employees - Batch 1

On May 23, 2025, the City Government of Dumaguete launched the first of five batches of this yearโ€™s Gender Sensitivity Training for City Hall employees, held at Plaza Maria Luisa Suites Inn.

This initiative reflects the LGUโ€™s firm commitment to implementing the Gender and Development (GAD) policy, anchored on various international and national frameworks such as The United Nations Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women and the Magna Carta of Women among others.

Gender sensitivity training promotes awareness and understanding of how social roles and expectations shape gender relations, and how biases and stereotypes can hinder personal and organizational development. Since its inception in 2022, this program has played a vital role in cultivating a more inclusive, respectful, and empowered local government workforce.

Through this training, we continue our shared mission of building a gender-fair Dumaguete, one batch at a time.

To culminate the 2025 National Womenโ€™s Month Celebration, the Gender and Development (GAD) Focal Point System of the Local Government Unit of Dumaguete City organized a Womenโ€™s Conference exclusively for women city hall employees. This gathering served as a space for learning, empowerment, and solidarity, reinforcing the vital role of women in governance and public service.

The conference featured insightful discussions on Inclusivity in the Workplace, Breaking Gender Stereotypes, and Inclusive Leadershipโ€”topics that resonate with the everyday experiences of women in government service. Through engaging talks and meaningful conversations, participants gained valuable perspectives on fostering equality, challenging biases, and leading with inclusivity.

The GFPS convened for its 1st Quarterly Meeting to discuss and approve the GAD Plan and Budget for CY 2026. This session served as a platform for collaboration, ensuring that our initiatives align with national gender policies and effectively address the needs of our community. Through active participation and meaningful discussions, we reaffirmed our commitment to advancing gender-responsive programs that promote inclusivity, empowerment, and sustainable development.

With the approval of our GAD Plan and Budget, the LGU is set to implement strategic actions that foster gender equality within our institution and beyond. This milestone reflects the cityโ€™s dedication to integrating gender perspectives in governance, policy-making, and service delivery.

March 26-27, 2025 | GAD Planning and Budgeting for CY 2026

The Gender and Development (GAD) Focal Point System of the Local Government Unit of Dumaguete City, convened at Sea Dreams Resort, Dauin, Negros Oriental, for the Formulation of the GAD Plan and Budget for CY 2026.

This crucial activity brought together the entire GFPS and GAD implementing office heads to finalize our strategic initiatives, ensuring that our programs remain responsive to the needs of our community.

The activity was lead by our City Mayor and GFPS Chairperson, Hon. Felipe Antonio โ€œIpeโ€ Remollo, whose support underscores the city's commitment to advancing gender equality.

Several women employees of the City Government of Dumaguete participated in the Work-Life Balance Workshop organized by the GAD Focal Point System held last Monday.

Mayor Felipe Antonio B. Remollo approved the conduct of the workshop to provide a venue for the employees to learn how to strike a healthy balance between work and their personal lives so they can enjoy socializing with friends or family and engaging in their hobbies while excelling professionally in the government service.

The speakers shared to the participants the importance of knowing their rights as women, how to live a healthy lifestyle and tips to enhance their innate beauty and personal hygiene.

The participants also availed of free services (massage, manicure, pedicure and haircut) that were given by the graduates of the City Livelihood and Home Industries Development Office.

This activity is part of the 2025 Womenโ€™s Month celebration with the theme โ€œWE for gender equality and inclusive societyโ€ and sub theme โ€œBabae sa Lahat ng Sektor, Aangat ang Bukas sa Bagong Pilipinas.โ€
