Look: Joel Clerigo, chairman of Barangay Mabigo in Canlaon City and president of the city’s Liga ng mga Barangay chapter, said his barangay will use its share for scholars and equipment.

Clerigo’s barangay was among 10 in Canlaon City blanketed in ashfall when Kanlaon Volcano erupted at 7:33 a.m. on July 9, with heavy rains from Typhoon Inday the same day prompting the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology to warn of possible lahars.

Eight families were displaced by the eruption, and 82 more were evacuated ahead of the typhoon, the Canlaon City government said.
