To create a safer, more accountable, and more trusted digital environment for Filipinos, Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) Undersecretary Claire Dennis S. Mapa, PhD, met with Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) Secretary Henry Rhoel R. Aguda to explore the use of the National ID Authentication Services (NIDAS) in age and identity checks for users of Roblox and Meta.

With over 96 million Filipinos registered, the National ID System will serve as the backbone of the country's digital identity ecosystem. The PSA assured that registered individuals can be verified through the National ID Registryโ€”no physical or digital card required. The pilot rollout is set to begin soon.

Key officials, including Cybercrime Investigation and Coordinating Center (CICC) Undersecretary Renato โ€˜Aboyโ€™ A. Paraiso; PSA Assistant Secretary Rosalinda P. Bautista, Deputy National Statistician of the PhilSys Registry Office; PSA Assistant National Statistician (ANS) Vazir Joshua Querol; and OIC-ANS Atty. Henedine P. The Philippine Statistics Authority โ€“ Regional Statistical Services Office of the Negros Island Region (PSA RSSO-NIR) successfully conducted a three-day training on the Statistical Survey Review and Clearance System (SSRCS) and Philippine Standard Industrial Classification (PSIC) Revision 5 on 25โ€“27 August 2026 at Southview Hotel, Dumaguete City.

The training enhanced the technical competencies of PSA personnel from the RSSO-NIR, and the Provincial Statistical Offices of Negros Occidental, Negros Oriental, and Siquijor on the proper implementation of SSRCS and application of PSIC Revision 5.

Facilitated by resource persons from the PSA Central Office and PSA RSSO-NIR, the sessions included hands-on workshops, practical exercises, and discussions on statistical standards, classification of economic activities, LGU statistical activities, and the mapping of local business tax classifications to PSIC.

The trained PSO personnel will serve as trainers for the upcoming provincial-level training for LGU personnel, particularly those from Business Permit and Licensing Offices and Municipal/City Planning and Development Offices involved in PSIC and CBMS implementation.

This capacity-building initiative strengthens the use of standardized statistical classifications and supports the production of quality, reliable, comparable, and harmonized statistics for evidence-based planning and decision-making. ๐Ÿ“ˆ

LOOK | 2025 Water Flow Accounts of the Philippines ๐Ÿ’ง๐Ÿ‡ต๐Ÿ‡ญ
