πˆπ‚π˜πŒπˆ: The Maritime Safety Services Unit – Southern Visayas (MSSU-SV), successfully conducted the MSSU-SV Gender and Development (GAD) Seminar from 04–05 December 2025 at Sea Dream Drive, Masaplod Sur, Dauin, Negros Oriental.

The seminar highlighted the lectures on Gender Differences in Society and Gender Mainstreaming, delivered by πŒπ’. π‰πˆπ€ 𝐃𝐄 𝐀𝐑𝐂𝐄, 𝐑𝐆𝐂, GAD Coordinator, Junob National High School who served as the resource speaker. Her presentation provided practical insights on promoting gender equality and strengthening gender responsiveness within the workplace.

These efforts are part of the PCG’s continuous commitment to promoting gender equality and fostering a safe, inclusive, and gender-responsive workplace. The activity provided valuable insights that further strengthen gender sensitivity and inclusiveness within the organization.

The Coast Guard District Southern Visayas monitored the following reports across major ports in the region due to the prevailing weather conditions brought by Tropical Depression β€œVERBENA”:

-169 rolling cargoes

π—§π—”π—žπ—œπ—‘π—š π—¦π—›π—˜π—Ÿπ—§π—˜π—₯:

A total of 60 deployable response teams with 438 personnel, along with land and water assets, remain on standby for possible deployment. Coordination with local DRRMs is ongoing to ensure rapid response and public safety.

The CGDSV continues to monitor sea conditions and strongly advises the coastal communities, mariners, especially fisherfolk and small boat operators to stay vigilant and heed official advisories.

LOOK: Coast Guard District Southern Visayas (CGDSV) Commander, Commodore Christopher D Auro PCG, held an awarding ceremony during the traditional Monday Morning Colors on 10 November 2025 at the Headquarters Coast Guard District Southern Visayas, Port Area, Brgy. Looc, Dumaguete City, Negros Oriental.

Awardees:
Coast Guard Superior Achievement Medal and Ribbon HCGDSV and Opcon Units for demonstrating performance in providing safety and security assistance to local and foreign tourist throughout the Negros Island tourist attraction and cemetery during the Oplan Biyaheng Ayos: UNDAS 2025 celebration of All Saints Day and All Souls Day.

CGS Northern Negros Occidental and CGSS Lakawon for the effective ex*****on of retrieval operations to the reported capsized fishingbanca at the vicinity waters of Brgy. Cadiz Viejo, Cadiz City, Negros Occidental on 04 November 2025.

Coast Guard Search and Rescue Medal and Ribbon
CGS Northern Negros Occidental and CGSS EB Magalona for the successful conduct of rescue operations to the reported maritime incident regarding stranded individuals onboard motorbanca β€œMercy Grace” at the vicinity waters of Bray. Mantangan, EB Magalona, Negros Occidental on 04 November 2025.

In his address, Commodore Auro PCG praised the awardees and all personnel during the successful response and rescue operations during the onslaught of typhoon β€œTino”, responded swiftly to the call of duty, emphasizing their professionalism and commitment to service. He reiterated the importance of the
awarding ceremony to be conducted every Monday morning colors to recognize the dedication and exemplary service of Coast Guard personnel who went above and beyond the call of duty.

The regular observance of this ceremony by CGDSV reflects its continued effort to preserve and promote the rich customs and traditions of the Coast Guard, while fostering a strong sense of nationalism among its members.

In a move to further enhance maritime safety and coordination, Engr. Ronaldo P. Bandalaria, Regional Director of the Maritime Industry Authority (MARINA) Region VII, visited Coast Guard District Southern Visayas (CGDSV) at Port Area, Barangay Looc, Dumaguete City, Negros Oriental, on 12 November 2025.

Upon arrival, Engr. Bandalaria was accorded arrival honors by the officers and personnel of CGDSV, led by Commodore Christopher D Auro PCG, District Commander, CGDSV.

The courtesy visit served as an avenue to strengthen inter-agency coordination and address key maritime concerns affecting the Southern Visayas region. Among the matters discussed were:

1. The mandatory installation of radar reflectors on vessels below 150 gross tonnage;

2. The continuation of mobile registration for motorbancas (MBCAs) carrying passengers within the Negros Island Region (NIR);

3. The implementation of the β€œ5-in-1” registration system for wooden-hull boats by MARINA;

4. The accounting and documentation of private yachts; and

5. The conduct of information drives regarding newly issued MARINA policies and guidelines.

This engagement underscores the shared commitment of both agencies to ensure safe, compliant, and efficient maritime operations across the Visayas region.
