Day 2 of the ANGAT Dumalinao: Environmental Leadership Camp became a powerful and meaningful experience as participants engaged in experiential learning activities focused on environmental awareness, marine conservation, and project development.
The day started with breakfast and preparation facilitated by the Organizing Team before participants traveled to Putiรฑg Balas, Pagadian City, one of the major highlights of the campโs experiential learning component.
Upon arrival, participants were welcomed and oriented by Elmer Barredo and Dexter Berame, who provided important reminders, safety protocols, and an overview of the activities prepared for the day. The orientation emphasized environmental responsibility, teamwork, and the importance of protecting marine ecosystems.
Participants then immersed themselves in various experiential activities including coastal cleanup, waste identification, and snorkeling activities facilitated by Elmer Barredo. Through these activities, participants gained firsthand experience and deeper appreciation of marine biodiversity, coastal ecosystems, and the environmental realities affecting local communities.
The cleanup activity allowed participants to identify different types of waste commonly found along coastal areas, helping them better understand the impact of improper waste disposal and marine pollution on the environment. Meanwhile, the snorkeling activity gave participants an opportunity to directly observe marine life and coastal resources, strengthening their appreciation and commitment toward environmental conservation.
Following the experiential activities, a reflection and evaluation session was facilitated by Elmer Barredo, where participants shared their realizations, insights, and personal reflections from the dayโs experiences. The discussion highlighted the importance of collective action, environmental stewardship, and youth participation in protecting natural resources and promoting sustainability.
After returning to the venue, participants proceeded to the session on the Presentation of Judging Criteria facilitated by Christian Paul Vailoces, which guided participants on the expectations and evaluation process for their environmental project proposals and advocacy campaigns.
This was followed by another interactive workshop on โDelivering an Effective Pitch,โ also facilitated by Christian Paul B. Vailoces, which helped participants strengthen their communication, presentation, and public speaking skills in presenting environmental projects and advocacies.
The afternoon continued with an intensive Project Development and Pitch Deck Workshop. facilitated by Christian Paul Vailoces, Justine Paul Pangasian, and Elmer Barredo. Participants worked collaboratively in developing environmental project proposals, advocacy campaigns, and presentation materials that addressed real environmental concerns within their communities.
Throughout the workshop, facilitators and mentors provided technical guidance, constructive feedback, and mentorship to help participants strengthen their project concepts, improve their advocacy strategies, and prepare for their final presentations.
The day concluded with dinner and another working break for project development, where participants continued refining their advocacy campaigns, project proposals, and pitch presentations with the support of mentors and facilitators.
Day 2 successfully combined experiential learning, environmental action, leadership development, and collaborative innovationโfurther empowering the youth to become advocates of sustainability and positive environmental change.
