The Municipality of Dumangas , demonstrating a proactive commitment to enhancing local emergency response capabilities, recently spearheaded a comprehensive two-day Responder-to-Responder (R2R) training and drill. This vital initiative was meticulously organized and facilitated by the Dumangas Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO), operating under the strategic guidance and unwavering leadership of Mayor Braeden John Biron. The primary beneficiaries of this intensive capacity-building undertaking were the dedicated members of Barangay Pulao's Barangay Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Committee (BDRRMC). This targeted approach ensures that emergency preparedness and response mechanisms are strengthened at the grassroots level, where immediate action is often most critical.
The core curriculum of this extensive training program was specifically designed to instill and reinforce crucial skills and knowledge pertaining to effective ambulance operations. Participants were thoroughly instructed on a wide array of best practices, encompassing everything from proper vehicle maintenance and pre-deployment checks to the safe and efficient handling of medical equipment onboard. A significant emphasis was also placed on the strategic implementation of localized patient transport protocols, particularly for urgent situations where every second counts. This involved detailed instruction on patient assessment, stabilization techniques, and the critical decision-making processes involved in determining the most appropriate and timely transport methods. Furthermore, the training delved into the nuances of effective communication and coordination among first responders, local health facilities, and the MDRRMO, ensuring a seamless and integrated response system. Practical scenarios, simulating various emergency situations commonly encountered in Barangay Pulao, were a cornerstone of the drill, allowing BDRRMC members to apply their newly acquired knowledge in a controlled yet realistic environment. This hands-on experience not only built confidence but also highlighted areas for further refinement and continuous improvement within their emergency response framework.
