June 6, 2026 – Through the joint efforts of the Maguindanao del Sur Police Provincial Office, PNP Aviation Security Group (AVSEGROUP), and other law enforcement units, one of the suspects in the March 2026 Shariff Aguak ambush was arrested at General Santos International Airport.

The suspect, listed as the Top 1 Most Wanted Person at the Provincial Level, was intercepted while attempting to board a flight bound for Manila. He is facing charges for five counts of Murder, three counts of Frustrated Murder, and Robbery with Violence Against or Intimidation of Persons in connection with the attack that claimed the lives of five police officers and left three others injured.

Following his arrest, the accused was turned over to the custody of the Provincial Intelligence Unit of Maguindanao del Sur PPO for proper documentation, medical examination, and further legal procedures pending his transfer to Shariff Aguak Municipal Police Station.

LAPU-LAPU CITY β€” A 54-year-old male resident of Lapu-Lapu City, Cebu, arriving from Manila, was arrested by joint operatives at Mactan-Cebu International Airport (MCIA) Terminal 1 on June 6, 2026, for two counts of r**e.

The operation was carried out through the coordinated efforts of personnel from the PNP Aviation Security Group (AVSEGROUP), the Mactan-Cebu International Airport Police Station (MCIAPS), and the tracker team of Police Station 2, Lapu-Lapu City Police Office (LCPO), following confirmation of the suspect’s arrival at the airport.

Upon verification, joint operatives from PNP AVSEGROUP, MCIAPS, and LCPO implemented the Warrant of Arrest issued by the Regional Trial Court, Seventh Judicial Region, Lapu-Lapu City, against the suspect for two (2) counts of R**e (Sexual Assault), as defined and penalized under Article 266-A, Paragraph 2 of the Revised Penal Code, as amended by Republic Act No. 8353.

The court recommended bail in the amount of Php 200,000.00 for each case, and the suspect was informed of the nature of his arrest and apprised of his constitutional rights in a language he understood before being subsequently turned over to Police Station 2, Lapu-Lapu City Police Office (LCPO), for documentation and proper disposition.

PNP ARRESTS TOP WANTED PERSON IN AIRPORT OPERATION IN GENERAL SANTOS CITY

The Philippine National Police (PNP) reported the arrest of a high-value fugitive during a coordinated law enforcement operation conducted at the General Santos City International Airport in Barangay Tambler, General Santos City on June 6, 2026.

The operation, led by the Maguindanao del Sur Police Provincial Office, resulted in the arrest of an individual known by the aliases β€œNexon” and β€œNelson,” who is identified as the No. 1 Most Wanted Person at the provincial level and No. 9 Most Wanted Person at the regional level.

The suspect was intercepted while undergoing airport security screening through a coordinated effort involving multiple units, including intelligence, operational, and aviation security forces. He was also said to have links with the DI-Hassan Group.

Participating units included the Maguindanao del Sur PPO, Provincial Intelligence Unit, 85th Special Action Company of the Rapid Deployment Battalion, Special Action Force, Aviation Security Unit 12, Criminal Investigation and Detection Group, Regional Intelligence Unit 15, 1201st Regional Mobile Force Battalion of PRO 12, General Santos International Airport Police Station, Shariff Aguak Municipal Police Station, Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines – Security and Intelligence Service, 601st Brigade of the Philippine Army, and other law enforcement agencies.

The arrest was implemented by virtue of a Warrant of Arrest issued by RTC Branch 15, 12th Judicial Region, Shariff Aguak, Maguindanao del Sur, dated May 18, 2026, for Multiple Counts of Murder (RPC Article 248), Frustrated Murder (RPC Article 248), and Robbery with Violence or Intimidation of Persons (RPC Article 294).

Based on investigation, the suspect was allegedly involved in the ambush of PNP personnel on March 28, 2026 in Shariff Aguak, Maguindanao del Sur, which resulted in the death of five police officers and injuries to three others.

The operation highlights the sustained implementation of the PNP Focused Agenda under Enhanced Managing Police Operations, strengthening intelligence-driven coordination among units to ensure the immediate apprehension of wanted persons.

PNP Chief, Police General Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr., said the arrest reflects the organization’s continued commitment to accountability and justice.

PNP BUSTS PHP 4.4-M CIGARETTE SMUGGLING ATTEMPT; 3 SUSPECTS NABBED IN LANAO DEL SUR

Authorities confiscated approximately PHP 4.4 million worth of alleged smuggled ci******es and arrested three individuals in a successful anti-illegal trade operation conducted in Lanao del Sur in the early hours of June 6, 2026.

Personnel of the Police Regional Office in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region (PRO BAR) conducted a checkpoint operation in Barangay Matling, Malabang, which led to the interception of three vehicles carrying large quantities of ci******es believed to have been brought into the country without proper authorization.

Initial validation showed that the vehicles were traveling from Barangay Picong en route to Marawi City when they were flagged down for routine inspection. During inspection, law enforcement personnel discovered in plain view several boxes and reams of assorted cigarette brands suspected to be smuggled goods.

Confiscated during the operation were approximately 700 reams of ci******es, 1,800 reams of menthol ci******es, and 3,000 reams of another variant, with a combined estimated market value of PHP 4,400,000.00.

The three suspects, all presently under police custody, are undergoing documentation and proper legal processing. Authorities confirmed that appropriate charges will be filed in coordination with concerned government agencies. The seized items have been turned over to Malabang Municipal Police Station for inventory and safekeeping prior to disposition with the Bureau of Customs.

PNP NETS 20 MOST WANTED PERSONS IN NATIONWIDE WARRANT OPERATIONS

The Philippine National Police (PNP) reported the arrest of 20 Regional Most Wanted Persons in a series of coordinated nationwide warrant operations conducted from 8:00 AM of June 5, 2026, to 8:00 AM of June 6, 2026.

Based on operational reports from various Police Regional Offices, the arrests were carried out through synchronized police actions in multiple areas across the country, resulting in the successful service of warrants against individuals facing serious criminal charges, including r**e, qualified r**e, statutory r**e, sexual assault, murder, parricide, syndicated estafa, and violations of Republic Act No. 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002) and Republic Act No. 7610 (Special Protection of Children Against Abuse, Exploitation and Discrimination Act).

All arrested persons are now under the custody of the concerned police units and detention facilities for proper disposition and court proceedings.

Among the notable results of the operations was the arrest of several No. 2 Most Wanted Persons across different regions. In Malabon City under NCRPO, police arrested a No. 2 Most Wanted Person facing murder charges. In Agusan del Norte under PRO13, another No. 2 Most Wanted Person was arrested for syndicated estafa following a coordinated law enforcement operation.

Other significant accomplishments included the arrest of a No. 4 Most Wanted Person in Quezon City for multiple counts of qualified r**e and acts of lasciviousness under RA 7610, and a No. 5 Most Wanted Person in Agusan del Norte for statutory r**e. A No. 6 Most Wanted Person was also arrested in Negros Oriental for statutory r**e, while another No. 6 Most Wanted Person was apprehended in Iligan City for statutory r**e under a separate criminal case.

In addition, a No. 7 Most Wanted Person was arrested in Nueva Vizcaya for two counts of violation of RA 7610, while another No. 7 Most Wanted Person was apprehended in Leyte for parricide. A No. 8 Most Wanted Person was also arrested in Cabadbaran City for r**e. In Iloilo City, a No. 9 Most Wanted Person was arrested for r**e, while in Cebu, a No. 10 Most Wanted Person was served a warrant for violation of RA 9165 inside a detention facility.

PNP ARRESTS NUEVA VIZCAYA MOST WANTED IN R**E CASE

The Philippine National Police, under the leadership of PNP Chief, Police General Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr., successfully conducted a law enforcement operation on June 5, 2026, resulting in the arrest of the No. 7 Regional Most Wanted Person in Barangay Labang, Ambaguio, Nueva Vizcaya.

The suspect, a 38-year-old Filipino male farmer and resident of the area, was arrested by personnel of the Ambaguio Police Station through the implementation of a warrant of arrest for the crime of R**e. The warrant was issued by the Regional Trial Court, Second Judicial Region, Branch 29 in Bambang, Nueva Vizcaya, with no recommended bail.
