A Legacy of Shared Sacrifice

U.S. Marines assigned to Marine Rotational Force-Southeast Asia, I Marine Expeditionary Force, hiked more than seven kilometers to visit the National Shrine of Valor during a professional military education activity in honor of the Bataan Death March in Bataan, Philippines, Jan. 31, 2026.

The Bataan Death March began on April 9, 1942, where more than 75,000 Filipino and American service members were forced to march over 65 miles under brutal conditions. This shared sacrifice stands as a powerful symbol of the enduring partnership between the United States and the Philippines.

Spreading Christmas Cheer in the Philippines 🎄 
 
Marine Rotational Force–Southeast Asia service members, alongside the Armed Forces of the Philippines Nurse Corps and local community partners, supported two outreach events in December. They helped distribute donations and Christmas gifts for children in the San Antonio area on Dec. 11 and spent time with elderly citizens at a group home in Antipolo City on Dec. 16.

Through distributing donations, sharing conversations, and spending meaningful time together, MRF-SEA continues to strengthen community ties while supporting security cooperation and shared values with Southeast Asian allies and partners.
