In a significant milestone for meat safety enforcement in the Philippines, the National Meat Inspection Service (NMIS) commended the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) for its invaluable collaboration, together with the City Government of Valenzuela, which contributed to a landmark conviction under Republic Act No. 9296, otherwise known as the “Meat Inspection Code of the Philippines,” as amended by Republic Act No. 10536.

The milestone was recognized on August 17, 2026, at the NMIS MITDC Bldg., Visayas Avenue, Quezon City, highlighting the importance of strong inter-agency cooperation in enforcing the country’s meat safety laws and protecting the consuming public.

The achievement underscores the value of strengthened coordination among regulatory agencies, law enforcement authorities, and local government units in addressing violations of meat safety laws and ensuring that cases are properly investigated and pursued. It further reinforces the commitment of the NMIS and its partners to uphold the law, protect consumers, and ensure meat safety from farm to table.

𝐂𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐭𝐞𝐬𝐲 𝐕𝐢𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐬, 𝐒𝐩𝐨𝐭 𝐈𝐧𝐬𝐩𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐌𝐨𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐨𝐟 𝐌𝐞𝐚𝐭 𝐄𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐢𝐬𝐡𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬 𝐢𝐧 𝐌𝐢𝐬𝐚𝐦𝐢𝐬!

The National Meat Inspection Service Regional Technical Operation Center (NMIS RTOC ) X, personnel, led by the OIC, Regional Technical Director Dr. Ma. Theresa D. Magdaraog, conducted a series of productive Courtesy Visits, spot inspection and monitoring to major Poultry Dressing Plants (PDPs) in Tagoloan and Villanueva, Misamis Oriental last August 13, 2026.

The institutional visits aimed to strengthen public-private partnerships, align local operations with national meat inspection policies, and foster collaborative efforts toward absolute food safety.

NMIS RTOC X extends its sincere appreciation to the management and staff of these establishments for their continued collaboration in safeguarding public health.

𝐎𝐟𝐟𝐢𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐇𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫 𝐨𝐟 𝐆𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐨𝐨𝐠 𝐂𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐒𝐥𝐚𝐮𝐠𝐡𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐬𝐞 𝐋𝐢𝐜𝐞𝐧𝐬𝐞 𝐭𝐨 𝐎𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐞!

The National Meat Inspection Service Regional Technical Operation Center (NMIS RTOC) X, officially turned over the License to Operate (LTO) to the Gingoog City Slaughterhouse last August 12, 2026.
The milestone event commenced with a Courtesy Visit to Hon. Mayor Erick G. Cañosa at the City Mayor's Office.

The NMIS team, led by OIC, Regional Technical Director Dr. Ma. Theresa D. Magdaraog, met with city officials including the City Economic Enterprise Department (CEED) OIC Manager Mr. Elvin Y. Restituto, alongside Slaughterhouse In-Charge Ms. Gemma R. Mariano. Together, they discussed strategic collaborations to sustain quality operations, strictly adhere to food safety regulations, and continuously elevate the city's livestock and meat infrastructure.

Following the courtesy call, the team proceeded to the Gingoog City Slaughterhouse facility for an Abattoir Visit and Field Inspection on August 13, 2026.This allowed the team to evaluate actual operational flows, review of hygiene protocols, and ensure the consistent production of safe, clean meat for consumers.

Our sincerest gratitude to the Local Government Unit of Gingoog City, the City Veterinary Office, and the City Economic Enterprise Development Office for their tireless commitment to standard excellence!

𝐄𝐧𝐯𝐢𝐫𝐨𝐧𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐥 𝐒𝐰𝐚𝐛𝐛𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐀𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐚𝐭 𝐒𝐭. 𝐉𝐮𝐝𝐞 𝐂𝐃𝐏!

Environmental swabbing was conducted at St. Jude CDP on August 15, 2026. The activity was conducted by Ms. Genevie T. Badilla, NMIS RTOC X Laboratory Alternate Focal Person, as part of the NMIS monitoring program to check the establishment’s compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and sanitation requirements.

The swabbing was done before operations to give the establishment enough time to correct any sanitation problems that may be found. If the results are unsatisfactory, the management is required to take corrective action, such as re-cleaning, sanitation, and disinfection of the affected areas before operations begin.
This activity is part of NMIS’s continuing efforts to monitor sanitation practices and help ensure the production of safe and wholesome meat products.
