🇭🇺🤝🇵🇼 Ambassador Titanilla Tóth participated in a meeting with H.E. Gustav Aitaro, Minister of State of Palau. 🇭🇺🤝🇵🇼 The exchange took place in Manila, at the 📍German Residence📍, as part of engagements with Missions accredited to Palau.

The discussions covered preparations for the upcoming Pacific Islands Forum 🌊🌏 in Palau, as well as broader regional priorities and shared areas of cooperation 🤝📍.

From our perspective 🇭🇺🇵🇼, a key point of the exchange was Mindszenty Cardinal High School ✝️📚, which continues to stand as an important symbolic and educational bridge between communities 🌉✨. The institution was highlighted as a meaningful example of how education can foster long-term cultural understanding, shared values, and strong people-to-people connections across regions 🌍💫.

Ambassador Tóth last visited Palau in 2024 ✈️📍, when a bust of Cardinal Mindszenty was inaugurated in the presence of H.E. President Surangel S. Whipps Jr. 🙏🏻🏫

The meeting reaffirmed the ongoing dialogue and cooperation between the relevant missions and Palau, across regions and throughout the Pacific Region 🌍🌊✨.

🇭🇺🇵🇭A friend in need is a friend indeed🇵🇭🇭🇺

The Embassy of Hungary highlights the strong spirit of Hungarian–Philippine cooperation, demonstrated through both humanitarian solidarity and cultural heritage preservation.
In the aftermath of Super Typhoon Rai (Odette) in December 2021 🌪️, Hungary was among the first responders, providing HUF 20 million in rapid assistance ⛑️, part of which enabled immediate food aid for 1,600 families through Caritas Manila 🍚📦 within one day.

The rest of the aid was used for the roof rehabilitation project of the Sibonga Nuestra Señora del Pilar de Zaragoza Church ⛪ to protect its valuable frescoes made by the famous cebuano artist, Raymundo Francia 🎨. The restoration was successfully completed in 2023, safeguarding an important cultural and religious heritage site ✨.

Building on this cooperation, Ambassador Tóth Titanilla held consultations in Cebu with relevant stakeholders — including the Cebu Provincial Government, the Sibonga Church, Fr. Brian Bigoli, Chairman of the Archdiocesan Commission on Cultural Heritage of the Church and SVD Brother Béla Lányi, a Hungarian architecture scholar and Head of the Office of External Relations and Internationalization at University of San Carlos in Cebu — to make a commemorative plaque marking the Hungarian-supported restoration 🇭🇺🤝🇵🇭.

We are excited about the unveiling of this special project in the second half of 2026 in cooperation with the Provincial Government of Cebu in the spirit of our shared commitment to the preservation of this historic site 📍
This cooperation continues to strengthen enduring ties between Hungary and the Philippines through shared values, solidarity, and cultural exchange 🌉🇭🇺🇵🇭
