WARRANTS SERVED AGAINST CTG PERSONALITY FOLLOWING SECURITY OPERATION IN MASBATE

The Philippine National Police (PNP), through the Police Regional Office 5 (PRO5), successfully implemented multiple outstanding warrants of arrest against a ranking member of a communist terrorist group (CTG) following an armed encounter in Palanas, Masbate.

The suspect, identified only through the alias “Luding,” 58 years old, was apprehended after government troops encountered armed CTG members during security operations in Barangay Miabas on May 10, 2026. The suspect sustained injuries during the encounter and was immediately provided medical attention.

Police units in Masbate subsequently coordinated the implementation of multiple warrants involving cases for murder and attempted murder issued by different courts over the past years.

The operation highlights the strong coordination between the PNP and the Armed Forces of the Philippines in sustaining peace and order efforts in the region. It also supports the whole-of-nation approach of the administration of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. in addressing insurgency and protecting communities.

PNP Chief Police General Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr. commended the operating units for the successful implementation of the warrants.

“Patuloy nating ipatutupad ang batas nang may katatagan, ngunit laging may paggalang sa karapatang pantao at due process. We remain committed to protecting communities and ensuring that those facing criminal charges are properly brought before the courts,” PGen Nartatez said.

The PNP assured the public that it will continue to work closely with partner agencies in preserving peace and public safety under the vision of Bagong PNP para sa Bagong Pilipinas: Serbisyong Mabilis, Tapat at Nararamdaman.

PNP NABS INDIAN NATIONAL, SEIZES ₱850K WORTH OF SMUGGLED CI******ES IN MOUNTAIN PROVINCE

The Philippine National Police, under the command of PGEN Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr., confiscated smuggled cigarette products with a total Bureau of Internal Revenue-assessed tax liability of PhP850,124.49 and arrested a 33-year-old Indian national during an anti-cigarette smuggling operation in Besao, Mountain Province on May 12, 2026.

The suspect was apprehended for alleged violations of Republic Act No. 10643 or the Graphic Health Warning Law, and Republic Act No. 10963, otherwise known as the Tax Reform for Acceleration and Inclusion (TRAIN) Law. Seized during the operation were 82 reams of imported ci******es in red variant, 15 reams of imported ci******es in light variant, and 10 packs of assorted imported cigarette products lacking proper tax documentation and proof of lawful importation.

The operation was conducted through the joint efforts of local and regional police units in coordination with the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR). An on-site inventory of the confiscated items was conducted in the presence of barangay officials of Brgy. Kin-iway before the suspect and recovered items were brought to Besao MPS for documentation and filing of appropriate charges.

“Illegal cigarette trading weakens government revenue collection and fuels unlawful business activities that harm legitimate industries and consumers. The PNP will continue to strengthen operations against smuggling and other forms of economic sabotage in support of national law enforcement efforts,” said PGEN Nartatez.

The operation supports the PNP Focused Agenda on Enhanced Police Operations against smuggling, illegal trade, and other forms of criminal activity that threaten economic security and public order.

“Malinaw ang mensahe namin sa mga sangkot sa smuggling at ilegal na negosyo—mananagot kayo sa batas. Hindi titigil ang PNP sa pagpapatupad ng batas para maprotektahan ang mamamayan,” pahayag ni PGEN Nartatez.

As the PNP strengthens its campaign against smuggling and other economic offenses that undermine lawful trade and government revenues under the directive of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr., it continues to assure the public of “Bagong PNP para sa Bagong Pilipinas: Serbisyong mabilis, tapat, at nararamdaman.”

BULACAN WAREHOUSE OPERATION YIELDS ₱3.8M IN ALLEGED UNREGISTERED PET PRODUCTS; 3 HELD

The Philippine National Police (PNP), through the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG), reported the successful implementation of a law enforcement operation in Marilao, Bulacan that resulted in the confiscation of around ₱3.8 million worth of alleged unregistered pet food products and the arrest of three individuals.

The operation was conducted on May 8, 2026, inside a warehouse facility in Marilao, Bulacan by joint elements of the CIDG National Capital Region Regional Field Unit, CIDG Bulacan Provincial Field Unit, and local police units through the service of a Search Warrant for alleged violation of Republic Act No. 12308 or the Animal Industry Development and Competitiveness Act.

Authorities identified the arrested individuals only through their aliases “Liza,” a warehouse manager and supervisor, and employees “Ed” and “Arni,” all of legal age. Recovered during the operation were assorted pet foods, treats, canned products, and other pet-related items allegedly being stored and offered for sale without the necessary registration and certification from the Bureau of Animal Industry (BAI).

Chief PNP, Police General Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr. commended the operating units for the successful operation and emphasized the importance of safeguarding consumers and the animal industry from potentially unregulated products.

“Patuloy nating paiigtingin ang ating koordinasyon sa concerned government agencies upang matiyak na ang mga produktong pumapasok sa merkado ay ligtas at sumusunod sa batas. Hindi lamang ito usapin ng enforcement, kundi proteksyon para sa publiko at sa ating industriya,” PGen Nartatez said.

He also reminded the public to remain vigilant when purchasing pet food and animal-related products and to check for proper registration markings from regulatory agencies.

“Malaki ang maitutulong ng publiko sa ganitong kampanya. Kapag may kahina-hinalang produkto o aktibidad, agad itong i-report sa mga awtoridad upang maagapan o itawag sa unfied 911,” he added.

The arrested individuals are now under the custody of authorities for proper legal proceedings while the confiscated items were turned over for documentation and verification.

The PNP meanwhile assured the public that it will continue working closely with partner agencies to ensure that laws protecting consumers and industries are properly enforced under the continuing thrust of Bagong PNP para sa Bagong Pilipinas: Serbisyong Mabilis, Tapat at Nararamdaman.
