Today, August 7, 2026, the City Environment and Natural Resources Office (City ENRO), in collaboration with the Waste Management Office, conducted an Environmental Information, Education, and Communication (IEC) Campaign at the Barangay Session Hall, Barangay North, General Santos City.

The activity was attended by the Purok Chairpersons and Barangay Officials of Barangay North.

The IEC campaign covered important environmental topics, including Climate Change, Environmental Laws and Ordinances, Solid Waste Management, and other environmental programs and initiatives aimed at strengthening environmental awareness and encouraging community participation in protecting and preserving the environment.

City ENRO, together with the Waste Management Office, continues to engage barangay leaders and communities in promoting responsible environmental practices and supporting the implementation of environmental programs at the local level.

The General Santos City Environment and Natural Resources family extends its sincere condolences to the grieving family of the late Mrs. Luzviminda Ocmar Geronimo, beloved mother of City Mayor Hon. Lorelie G. Pacquiao.

We join the family in prayer during this time of sorrow, asking the Lord to grant her eternal peace and to give strength, comfort, and hope to all who mourn her passing.

The City Environment and Natural Resources Office (City ENRO) proudly recognizes the successful presentation of the City Biodiversity Index (CBI) Assessment conducted by the interns from Ramon Magsaysay Memorial Colleges (RMMC), Mindanao State University (MSU), and Southern Philippines Agri-Business and Marine and Aquatic School of Technology (SPAMAST).

The assessment was carried out on July 7,8,9,10 and 14, 2026, across several key biodiversity sites in General Santos City, including Plaza Heneral, Sharif Mucsin Mangrove Sanctuary, the City Hall Compound, Barangay Buayan, and Sanchez Peak. The interns presented their findings on August 4, 2026, at the City ENRO Conference Room, showcasing their dedication, teamwork, and commitment to environmental conservation.

This accomplishment would not have been possible without the invaluable guidance and expertise of the MSU professors, Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) personnel, and the City ENRO staff, whose mentorship, technical support, and unwavering assistance enabled the students to successfully complete the assessment and deepen their understanding of biodiversity conservation.

Congratulations to all the student interns and everyone who contributed to this meaningful endeavor. Together, we continue to strengthen our commitment to protecting and conserving the rich biodiversity of General Santos City for future generations. ๐ŸŒฟ๐Ÿƒ
