Through this learning session, participants gained practical insights on emergency response, safety awareness, and the important role that every individual plays in saving lives before professional responders arrive.

The Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) Steering Committee Region XII, together with its valued partners, successfully conducted a Community Outreach and Relief Operation on July 31, 2026, in Malapatan Evacuation Center, Poblacion, Malapatan, Sarangani Province, extending hope and assistance to families affected by the magnitude 7.8 earthquake.

Through the collective efforts of the Department of Labor and Employment Region XII, Occupational Safety and Health Center Regional Extension Unit XII, Philippine Red Cross โ€“ General Santos Cityโ€“Sarangani Province Chapter, Philippine College of Occupational Medicine (PCOM), Family Planning Organization of the Philippines (FPOP) SOCCSKSARGEN Chapter, South Cotabato Integrated Port Services, Inc., Bloomberry Foundation, Alsons Aquaculture Corporation, Conrado & Ladislawa Alcantara Foundation, Cargill, ib vogt Philippines Inc., Ai-OSH Management Consultancy Services, and Coca-Cola Philippines, relief goods were distributed to families in need.

The outreach also featured a medical mission, where the Philippine Red Cross and PCOM provided free medical consultations and health check-ups, while FPOP SOCCSKSARGEN Chapter offered free medicines and other essential medical services to support the health and well-being of the community.

This initiative is a testament to the power of bayanihan where government agencies, private organizations, healthcare professionals, safety advocates, and volunteers come together to make a meaningful difference.

Together, we build not only safer workplaces, but stronger and more resilient communities.
