was successfully held on March 31, 2026 at the Alternative Learning System (ALS) Center in Barangay Fatima, General Santos City.
The event marked the meaningful conclusion of a series of learning sessions designed to enhance literacy and numeracy skills among out-of-school youth and adult learners. It was attended by dedicated tutors and enthusiastic tutees, whose active participation reflected the success of the program. Also present were distinguished guests including Mr. Mohammad Nasief Naga from the Extension Services Division, Ms. Evangeline R. Arobo, ALS District Coordinator, and Prof. Almera Mode-Sales, BSED OIC Chairperson and Extension Coordinator of the College of Education.
The program formally opened with a warm welcome, setting a celebratory and reflective tone for the activity. Messages from the invited guests highlighted the importance of community-based education and the significant role of ALS in providing second chances for learners. They commended the tutors for their commitment and passion in delivering the sessions, as well as the tutees for their perseverance and eagerness to learn despite challenges. Their words underscored the transformative power of education in empowering individuals and uplifting communities.
One of the highlights of the culmination was the presentation of learning outputs and testimonials from the tutees. Selected learners shared their personal journeys, expressing gratitude for the knowledge and skills they gained through the LIT UP and numerALS sessions. These testimonies served as powerful reminders of the programโs impact, showcasing improvements in reading, writing, and basic mathematical skills.
The culmination program also emphasized the collaborative efforts between the Mindanao State University, College of Education and the Alternative Learning System of the Department of Education in District 7. It demonstrated how academic institutions can extend their services beyond the classroom through community engagement and extension initiatives.
In closing, the activity ended on a positive and hopeful note, with a renewed commitment from all participants to sustain and expand learning opportunities within the community. The KaBATAan Learning Time: LIT UP and numerALS program not only celebrated academic progress but also fostered a sense of unity, purpose, and empowerment among all those involved.
