58th Regular Session of the Sangguniang Bayan of Gigaquit

The 58th Regular Session of the Sangguniang Bayan of Gigaquit was successfully conducted with the perfect attendance of all Sangguniang Bayan members. The session was presided over by Hon. Vice Mayor Pem Barbers Bonite, Presiding Officer of the Sangguniang Bayan.

Public Schools District Supervisor
Mr. Cubelo appeared before the plenary to seek the support of the Sangguniang Bayan for the endorsement of the proposed Integrated Schools in three areas of Gigaquit, namely: Landing Elementary School, Mahanub Elementary School, and Poniente Elementary School.

Engr. Rojo was invited to the plenary to address the concerns and issues regarding the frequent power interruptions (brownouts) being experienced in the municipality. With the Gigaquit Town Fiesta fast approaching, the Sangguniang Bayan emphasized the need for immediate attention and appropriate solutions to minimize disruptions to the various activities and ensure a smooth and successful celebration.

The session reflects the Sangguniang Bayan’s continuing commitment to addressing the concerns of the community, supporting education initiatives, and ensuring reliable public services for the people of Gigaquit.

Governor Robert Lyndon Barbers and the members of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan of Surigao del Norte, led by Hon. Vice Governor Eddie “Geed” Gokiangkee Jr., for bringing the “Kapitolyo Serbisyo Caravan 2026” to Gigaquit.

The delivery of free health services and other government programs closer to our people has made a significant impact on our community. The financial assistance extended to various sectors, especially our senior citizens, greatly helps in sustaining their daily needs.

56th Regular Session of the Sangguniang Bayan of Gigaquit

The 56th Regular Session of the Sangguniang Bayan of Gigaquit was presided over by Hon. Pem Barbers Bonite, Vice Mayor and Presiding Officer, and held at the Gigaquit Legislative Building on July 28, 2026.

Session Highlights:

The Sangguniang Bayan warmly welcomed the faculty and students of Gigaquit National School of Home Industries (GNSHI), headed by their School Principal, Ma’am Marisol M. Galido, who paid a courtesy visit to proudly share the school’s recent accomplishments.

Among the notable achievements presented were:

🏆 Champion – Mangrove Quiz Bowl, held in Surigao City.

🌏 Official Invitation to participate in the Science Castle Asia 2026: Research and Innovation Conference, to be held in Malaysia on August 21–25, 2026.

The GNSHI delegation expressed their heartfelt gratitude to the Local Government Unit of Gigaquit for its invaluable support during the Mangrove Quiz Bowl competition, which contributed to their remarkable success. They also sought the continued assistance and support of the LGU as they prepare to represent not only Gigaquit but also the Philippines in the upcoming Science Castle Asia 2026 in Malaysia.

The Sangguniang Bayan commends the students, faculty, and school administration of GNSHI for bringing pride and honor to the Municipality of Gigaquit. Your dedication, excellence, and pursuit of innovation serve as an inspiration to the entire Gigaquitnon community.
