But she was far ahead of her time, and after being imprisoned in a convent, she ended up being jailed in Bilibid for daring to be with the man she loved.

The Hunggo is a rare fruit-bearing tree found only in the Philippines.

It can grow up to 30 meters tall, making it one of the larger native fruit trees in the country. Its fruits have dark purple-red skin and a slightly sour, astringent flavor that makes them very different from common tropical fruits like mangoes or lanzones.

Despite being native to the Philippines, Hunggo remains one of the least-studied endemic fruits and is rarely seen in markets, making it almost a โ€œhidden speciesโ€ even to many Filipinos.

Nakatikim ka na ba ng pepe?

๐˜“๐˜ช๐˜ต๐˜ด๐˜ฆ๐˜ข ๐˜จ๐˜ข๐˜ณ๐˜ค๐˜ช๐˜ข๐˜ฆ is known as pepe in the Bikolano language. This fruit is also called tablos in Palawโ€™an, bagnolo or bangulo in Tagalog, pipay in Manobo, and kupa in Bagobo, among other names.

The fruit is oblate to globose, with a distinctive green stem cap. Its thick, smooth skin starts out greenish-white and ripens into shades of pink or red. Inside, the flesh is soft, creamy, and somewhat similar in flavor and texture to avocado.

Alam mo bang mula 1946 hanggang 1961 ay kasabay nating ipinagdiriwang ng Estados Unidos ang Independence Day tuwing July 4?

Bagama't idineklara ni Pangulong Emilio Aguinaldo noong June 12, 1898 ang Araw ng Kasarinlan ng Pilipinas mula sa Espanya, hindi naging ganap na malaya ang bansa. Pinawalang-bisa ng Kasunduan sa Paris noong December 10, 1898 ang proklamasyon ng kalayaan ng bansa, at unti-unting inilipat ang pamumuno sa bansa sa ilalim ng U.S. Sa bisa ng Philippine Independence Act o Batas Tydings-McDuffie, nakamtan ng ating bansa ang ganap ng kalayaan na ating ipinaglalaban mula panahon ng mga Espanyol noong July 4, 1946. Isinunod ng Amerika ang araw ng ating kalayaan sa kanilang Independence Day. Nang araw ding iyon, pinasinayaan ang Ikatlong Republika ng Pilipinas - kung kaya't kilala rin ang July 4 sa bansa bilang 'Republic Day'. Idineklara ni US President Harry S. Truman sa buong mundo na malaya na ang Pilipinas.

Noong May 12, 1962, sa bisa ng Presidential Proclamation No. 28 na nilagdaan ni nooโ€™y Pangulong Diosdado Macapagal, inilipat ang pagdiriwang ng Araw ng Kalayaan mula July 4 sa araw ng June 12, ang kalayaang idineklara ng mga Filipino. Unang ipinagdiriwang ang Araw ng Kalayaan nang June 12 noong 1962, na mismong dinaluhan ng nooโ€™y 93 taong gulang na si Emilio Aguinaldo. Noong August 4, 1964, isinabatas ang Republic Act No. 4166 na nagdedeklara sa June 12 bilang Philippine Independence Day at July 4 bilang Republic Day.

Sa ilalim ng administrasyong Ferdinand Marcos, Sr., itinakda ang July 4 bilang Filipino-American Friendship Day sa bisa ng Proclamation No. 2364 na nilagdaan noong 1984. Sa pagpasa ng Administrative Code of the Philippines, 1987 na naisabatas sa ilalim ng administrasyon ni Pangulong Corazon Aquino, pormal nang tinanggal ang July 4 o Republic Day bilang isang holiday. Hindi ito isinama sa talaan ng mga public holiday sa bansa.

Ambergris is a rare, waxy substance formed inside the intestines of s***m whales, likely to protect them from sharp squid beaks they cannot digest. The whale vomit is often called โ€œfloating gold" that can drift in the ocean for years before washing ashore.

Fresh ambergris smells unpleasant, but as it ages, it develops a sweet, musky scent prized in luxury perfumes. For centuries, its mysterious origin fascinated people, making it one of natureโ€™s strangest treasures.

Ang look (Ingles: bay) ay isang uri ng anyong tubig na bahagyang napaliligiran ng lupa at konektado sa mas malaking dagat. Dahil sa katangian nito, ang look ay kilala sa pagkakaroon ng mas kalmadong tubig kung saan yumayabong ang pangingisda at turismo.

Tulad ng Look ng Maynila (Manila Bay), ang mga look ay naging mahalagang bahagi na rin ng kasaysayan dahil dito kadalasang namamalagi ang mga bangka at barko upang maging ligtas mula sa malalaking alon at makipagkalakalan.

The nation honors Manlilikha ng Bayan Marife Ravidas Ganahon on her 59th Birthday.

Marife Ganahon, a master weaver celebrated for her expertise in ikam, is honored in her community for creating chada (beautiful) weaves that feature impeccably defined design forms, never hiwi (crooked or askew). Her creations are distinguished by even sodsod, smooth textures, and straight edgesโ€”true indicators of her exceptional skill.

Despite her numerous accolades, Ganahon remains profoundly connected to her spiritual heritage, performing the paulin-ulin ritual to seek Magbabayaโ€™s blessing for her well-being as the communityโ€™s weaver. Dedicated to the future of her craft, she actively mentors young women, imparting her knowledge to ensure that the tradition thrives for generations to come.
