On October 21, 2025, the Public Employment Service Office (PESO) participates in a career coaching session at Lurisa National High School with the goal of assisting junior and senior high school students in preparing for their future careers.
The session aims to improve students' career readiness by helping them identify their abilities, interests, and possible career paths. It also seeks to enable young people to take initiative in their own personal and professional development by empowering them to set specific professional goals.

The PESO Manager, Mr. Rollie U. Carcido, personally attends the event as the invited resource speaker. He emphasizes the importance of early career planning and encourages students to start thinking about their future as early as high school.

In his presentation, Mr. Carcido shares important insights on Labor Market Information (LMI), highlighting current employment trends, in-demand jobs, necessary skills, and prevailing wages. The information gives students a clearer understanding of the opportunities that align with their interests and abilities.

The career coaching session is part of PESO’s ongoing effort to help young people build a strong start in their careers. It provides students with useful advice and knowledge to prepare them for the workforce and guide them in making informed decisions about their future.

In celebration of the 25th National PESO Congress, the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) recognized top-performing Public Employment Service Offices (PESOs) and Job Placement Offices (JPOs) for their exemplary performance in facilitating employment, providing and analyzing labor market information, and implementing career development support and other DOLE programs during the 2024 National Search for Best PESO Awards held on 15 October 2025 in Tagaytay City.

Labor Secretary Bienvenido E. Laguesma led the awarding ceremony, commending the PESOs and JPOs for advancing the shared goal of delivering timely, reliable, efficient, and effective public employment services to workers, job seekers, students, and enterprises.

Gingoog City, October 17, 2025 — Continuing its sustained livelihood interventions for rural farmers, the Public Employment Service Office (PESO) of Gingoog City joined the City Agriculturist’s Office (CAO) in a Seminar and Actual Demonstration on Cacao and Coffee Farming Plantation for 33 beneficiaries of the Tagubtub Farmers Association in Sitio Tagubtub, Barangay Eureka.

The activity is conducted in coordination with the Barangay Eureka Council, 23rd Infantry Battalion, and 38th Infantry Battalion, served as the second phase of PESO’s ongoing livelihood and employment support program for the Tagubtub community. Earlier this month, PESO had facilitated a seminar on livelihood and community enterprise development for the same group of farmers.

To reach Sitio Tagubtub, the team traversed steep, rocky, and muddy terrain- walking nearly two kilometers after their vehicle could no longer pass due to road conditions. Despite the challenge, the team remained determined to fulfill their mission of bringing government services directly to the people.

This recent seminar focused on hands-on learning in cacao and coffee cultivation, promoting proper planting techniques, farm management, and sustainable agricultural practices. It aims to strengthen farmers’ technical skills while complementing PESO’s earlier livelihood training initiatives.

The third phase of intervention is scheduled next month, which will include the turnover of cacao and coffee seedlings, fertilizers, food-for-work assistance, and financial support. This further solidifies the City Government’s holistic approach to rural development and livelihood sustainability.

Under the leadership of Mayor Erick G. Cañosa, the City Government of Gingoog, through PESO and City Aggies continues to demonstrate its commitment to inclusive growth by empowering farmers, uplifting local livelihoods, and ensuring that opportunities for progress reach even the most remote communities.

Gingoog City, Misamis Oriental — A total of 350 student-beneficiaries from Gingoog City have received their 40% wage share under the Special Program for Employment of Students (SPES) on October 16, 2025, during the official payout held at the Public Employment Service Office (PESO), 3rd Floor, Gingoog City Hall.

The SPES is a flagship youth employment initiative of the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) that is being actively implemented by the City Government of Gingoog through PESO. The program aims to assist deserving students in earning income during school breaks while gaining meaningful work experience that strengthens their skills and prepares them for future careers.

Of the total beneficiaries, 150 students were hired under the LGU-implemented SPES, who had earlier received their 60% wage share funded directly by the City Government of Gingoog. This reflects the LGU’s strong commitment to youth empowerment, education, and inclusive development. The recent DOLE disbursement covers the remaining 40% national government share of their salaries.

Meanwhile, another 200 student-beneficiaries from Gingoog City Colleges (GCC) also received their 40% DOLE share during the same payout activity. GCC, one of the local partner institutions, implemented its own SPES program in close coordination with PESO–Gingoog and DOLE, providing additional employment opportunities for students within the city.

The successful payout underscores the effective collaboration between DOLE Misamis Oriental Provincial Field Office, the City Government of Gingoog under the leadership of Mayor Erick G. Cañosa, and the PESO–Gingoog, which spearheaded the local implementation from beneficiary screening and placement to documentation and coordination with DOLE and participating institutions.

Recognizing the vital role of career planning and decision-making among young people, the Public Employment Service Office (PESO) of Gingoog City continues to strengthen its commitment to support Senior High School students in preparing for their future careers. As part of its regular Career Guidance and Employment Coaching sessions conducted in various Senior High Schools across the city, PESO provides essential insights and guidance to help students explore opportunities and make informed career choices.

On October 10, 2025, PESO joined the Youth Development Session (YDS) for Grade 12 beneficiaries of the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) at Bal-ason National High School, organized by the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD).

Serving as a resource partner, PESO Manager Mr. Rollie U. Carcido led the session on “Jobs Available for Me and How to Prepare for My Dream Job.” The lecture also included discussions on Labor Market Information (LMI), providing students with updated data on in-demand and hard-to-fill occupations both locally and overseas. Mr. Carcido likewise shared insights on AmBisyon Natin 2040, the long-term vision of the Filipino people for themselves and the nation and encouraging the youth to plan their education and career paths early and align their goals with national development aspirations.

Through these continuing initiatives, PESO Gingoog reaffirms its dedication to empowering the city’s youth by helping them make wise career decisions, prepare for gainful employment, and build a brighter, more secure future for themselves, their families, and the community.

The Public Employment Service Office conducts a Seminar on Livelihood Development and Profiling of the Tagubtub Farmers Association on October 09, 2025 at Sitio Tagubtub, Barangay Eureka, Gingoog City.

A total of 32 beneficiaries are present during the orientation which aims to equip local farmers with knowledge and opportunities for sustainable livelihood development.

The activity is facilitated by Public Employment Service Office, in coordination with the officials of Barangay Eureka, City Agriculturist Office, the 23rd Infantry Battalion and the 58th Infantry Battalion.

This program seeks to support local farmers in achieving sustainable income by providing financial assistance and enhancing their farming skills. The initiative reflects the city’s commitment, under the leadership of Mayor Erick G. Cañosa, to support local farmers through collaboration and community-based programs that promote inclusive growth and agricultural development.
