OPEN FLAME BURNING IS PROHIBITED! | BAWAL ANG MAG-HALING-HALING!

The Gingoog City Fire Station reminds the public that open burning of garbage, leaves, grass, and other combustible materials is prohibited. What may seem like a simple act of burning waste can quickly lead to **uncontrolled grass fires, structural fires, air pollution, respiratory illnesses, and damage to the environment.

Open burning does not only endanger lives and propertyโ€”it may also constitute a violation of existing laws, including:

Republic Act No. 9003 โ€“ Ecological Solid Waste Management Act of 2000
Promotes proper waste segregation, recycling, composting, and environmentally sound disposal of solid waste.

Republic Act No. 8749 โ€“ Philippine Clean Air Act of 1999
Prohibits activities that cause harmful air pollution, including the burning of municipal, biomedical, and hazardous wastes.

Republic Act No. 9514 โ€“ Fire Code of the Philippines
Provides fire safety measures and penalties for violations that may cause or contribute to fire hazards.

REMEMBER: A small fire can spread rapidly, especially during dry and windy conditions. Improper burning can threaten nearby homes, vegetation, properties, and even lives.
