The G.Pelaez Women's Association, a beneficiary of the Backyard Tilapia Farming Project of the Provincial Agriculture Office (PAGRO) had its first full harvest of the cultured tilapia in pond last July 19, 2024.. The Gitagum Federated Farmers Association conducted its monthly meeting last May 3, 2024. The meeting was attended by agencies that promote their products such as Promiseland, and by the professors from the Extension Division of Mindanao State University at Naawan, headed by its Director for Extension Division - Ms. Mariefe B. Quiñones, MSc and Director for MSUN CARES (Center for Aquaculture Research, Enterprise and Sevices) - Sir Victor C. Navarro. The guests from MSUN have a conversation with the farmer association presidents from the 11 barangays of the municipality regarding the serious issues they are facing in farming specifically on to***co and express their commitment to help find solution for these underlying issues through research, and also introduced the concept of aquaculture and fish farming as alternative source of livelihood.
