The Municipal Agriculture Office (MAO) of Gonzaga presented an overview of the Gonzaga Municipal Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Management Council (MFARMC) during a benchmarking visit at the Mayor's Office on August 27, 2026. Jamelita T. Flores led the presentation, with the MAO OIC Ian Paul V. Septimo also on hand to walk the visiting delegation through the council's work.

The presentation covered the MFARMC's organizational structure, its major activities, and the practices it has developed over time, along with a candid look at the challenges the council has run into and what it's learned from them. Part of the discussion also touched on how the MFARMC works alongside the LGU in fisheries governance and resource management, a partnership the two sides pointed to as central to the council's track record.

That track record came up often. Gonzaga placed first in the Malinis at Masaganang Karagatan (MMK) search last year and followed it with second place this year, and the visiting delegation, made up of representatives from BFAR Regional Office XII and the IFARMC-Sarangani Bay Protected Seascape, wanted to know what was behind it. SB Member Ferdinand L. Baclig, Chairperson of the Committee on Agriculture, joined the session as well.

The event closed with an open forum where the Gonzaga MFARMC and the visiting delegation compared notes on which practices might transfer to other communities.

The Local Government Unit of Gonzaga, led by Municipal Mayor Rellie S. Dalmaceda, held the Aldaw ti Barangay at the Barangay Cabanbanan Norte Gymnasium on August 26, 2026, with the participation of the municipality's department heads. Residents from six barangays attended: Cabanbanan Norte, Cabanbanan Sur, Caroan, Casitan, Isca, and Rebecca.

Aldaw ti Barangay is the LGU's flagship program for bringing frontline services closer to constituents. Department heads set up stations to walk residents through their respective services and address concerns raised on site.

Two assistance programs were released during the activity. Under a Sangguniang Bayan resolution, all Barangay Kagawads from the six barangays received a honorarium of 1,400 pesos each. Fisherfolk from the same barangays received a fuel subsidy of 1,500 pesos each, funded through LGU funds from the municipality's award under the Malinis at Masaganang Karagatan (MMK) program.

The LGU Gonzaga holds Aldaw ti Barangay in different barangays throughout the year to bring government services closer to residents.

𝟏𝐒𝐓 𝐏𝐑𝐎𝐕𝐈𝐍𝐂𝐈𝐀𝐋 𝐏𝐑𝐎𝐉𝐄𝐂𝐓 𝐌𝐎𝐍𝐈𝐓𝐎𝐑𝐈𝐍𝐆 𝐂𝐎𝐌𝐌𝐈𝐓𝐓𝐄𝐄 (𝐏𝐏𝐌𝐂) 𝐁𝐔𝐒𝐈𝐍𝐄𝐒𝐒 𝐌𝐄𝐄𝐓𝐈𝐍𝐆

The Local Government Unit of Gonzaga hosted the 1st Provincial Project Monitoring Committee (PPMC) Business Meeting on Thursday, August 20, 2026, at the Gonzaga Riverview Resort in Barangay Pateng and was chaired by Hon. Engr. Rellie S. Dalmaceda, ASEAN Engr., Municipal Mayor of Gonzaga and PPMC Chairperson, who opened the session with her message to the body.

The meeting opened with an orientation on the Regional Project Monitoring and Evaluation System (RPMES), where a representative from the Department of Economy, Planning, and Development (DepDev) Regional Office II walked members through the legal basis, objectives, and reporting forms that guide project monitoring across the province. Discussion also covered the relevance of the PPMC to the Seal of Good Local Governance and other programs of the Department of the Interior and Local Government, including the various Local Government Support Fund sub-programs it helps monitor.

The body took up and confirmed PDC Resolution No. 01, Series of 2026, which reconstitutes and expands the PPMC to include representatives from the All-Women Inspection Team, strengthening the committee's capacity for field validation and project evaluation. Members also reviewed the status of ongoing infrastructure projects under the 2024-2026 Annual Investment Program as well as carry-over projects from 2025, and approved the CY 2026 PPMC Annual Work and Financial Plan covering August to December, with a proposed budget of Php420,000. The designation of alternate members and monitoring teams was likewise confirmed to ensure continuity in the committee's field activities.

Present during the business meeting were Mr. Rodel Ordillos, President of The Alliance of Media Advocates Inc., Mr. Godofredo Cagurungan, President of the Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas - Cagayan (SBP-Cagayan) Inc., Ms. Marieta F. Abalus, CESO V, of the Department of the Interior and Local Government, and Rev. Bishop Kenneth Cortez, President of the Interfaith Advisory Council for Transformation (iACT), Inc.

The committee also took up a proposed training-workshop on technical skills for non-engineer members of the Local Project Monitoring Committee, set for September 7 to 9, 2026, in Tuguegarao City, aimed at building the capacity of members handling local roads monitoring without an engineering background.

The Local Government Unit of Gonzaga held a post-evaluation meeting on August 25, 2026 to review the Gonzaga Patronal Town Fiesta (GPTF), held August 15 to 19, 2026. Punong Barangay, school heads, the Public Schools District Supervisor, heads of national government agencies and NGOs, and all committee chairpersons took part.

During an open forum, participants pointed out the gaps, errors, and difficulties encountered over the five-day celebration. The goal was straightforward: learn from this year's fiesta and fix what didn't work before the next one comes around.

Mayor Rellie S. Dalmaceda thanked the barangay officials, Public Schools District Supervisor, heads of NGAs & NGOs, all committee chairperson, and all of the Gonzaganians for their participation and contribution for the GPTF2026.

Said next year's celebration, the DAWA Festival, will outdo this year's. Participants agreed the 2026 GPTF was a success, though there's still work to do to make the next one run with fewer hitches.

The LGU carries these lessons forward as preparations for the next celebration begin.

The Local Government Unit of Gonzaga, through the Municipal Agriculture Office (MAO) under Ian Paul V. Septimo and Jamalita T. Flores, distributed fuel subsidies to fisherfolk beneficiaries in Barangay Batangan, Barangay Minanga, and Barangay Tapel on August 26, 2026. Each beneficiary received ₱1,500.

Global oil prices have kept climbing, and for many fisherfolk in these barangays, that means fewer trips out to sea. Fuel now eats up a bigger share of what they earn, and some have had to stay ashore simply because they cannot afford to go out.

Municipal Mayor Engr. Rellie S. Dalmaceda and the MAO continue to monitor the situation in the municipality's coastal barangays, with more assistance expected as the need arises.

The Local Government Unit of Gonzaga, through the Municipal Agriculture Office under newly designated OIC Ian Paul V. Septimo, distributed 30 heads of female cattle to 30 cattle raisers affected by the typhoons that struck Northern Luzon in October and November 2024. Mayor Engr. Rellie S. Dalmaceda led the distribution today, August 25, 2026, together with representatives from the Department of Agriculture–Regional Field Office 2.

Each recipient received one head of cattle to help replace livestock lost during the calamity. The animals are expected to breed and multiply over time, giving farmers a renewable source of income and food rather than a one-time handout. For households that depend on livestock for their livelihood, the program offers a way to recover that does not stop after the first year.

Mayor Dalmaceda thanked the Department of Agriculture for its continued partnership with the municipality and reaffirmed the LGU's commitment to supporting farmers and fisherfolk still recovering from last year's typhoons. The Municipal Agriculture Office is set to monitor the health and breeding progress of the dispersed cattle in the coming months.

Representatives of the Gonzaga Indigenous Culture and Organization, Inc. (GICAOI) paid a courtesy visit to Mayor Engr. Rellie S. Dalmaceda, ASEAN Engr. today, August 24, to seek support for the formal registration of their organization and its representation in the Sangguniang Bayan through an Indigenous Peoples Mandatory Representative (IPMR), as provided under Republic Act No. 8371, or the Indigenous Peoples' Rights Act (IPRA) of 1997.

The group explained that their barangay currently has no accredited IPMR authorized to issue certifications for the NCIP Clearance, a requirement for employment, scholarship applications, tribal membership certificates, marriage processing, land transactions, and applications to agencies such as the NAPOLCOM, BJMP, BuCor, BFP, AFP, and PNP. Without this clearance, members of the IP community face delays in accessing services that require proof of indigenous status.

Mayor Dalmaceda committed to assist GICAOI in completing the requirements for their organization's accreditation and in pursuing their IPMR representation, in coordination with the National Commission on Indigenous Peoples (NCIP). The initiative is expected to give Gonzaga's IP sector a formal voice in local policymaking and development planning through participation in the Local Special Bodies.

Mayor Rellie S. Dalmaceda personally inspects the Tapel Bridge No. 1 in Barangay Tapel early this morning after Punong Barangay Danilo S. Domingo raised concerns about a structural crack on the main member of Span 4.

The bridge sits along Dugo–San Vicente Road and is currently limited to one-lane traffic as a safety measure. Mayor Rellie coordinated directly with the 1st District Engineer Oscar Gumiran, which has already installed barriers around the damaged portion.

Motorists passing through the area are advised to take extra caution while assessment and repair work continue.
