Bale Pinaud

Bale Pinaud is a historic and cherished home of the David family, located in Betis, Pampanga. Built between 1900 and 1910 by Pedro and Bienvenida David, this nipa-roofed house stands out as the lone thatched-roof house in the old district of Betis. Pinatubo’s lahar, and termite infestations, remains a functional home for the David-Siongco clan, which has grown to over 100 members. Despite these ch

allenges, the family has preserved both the tangible and intangible heritage of Bale Pinaud, including its architecture, collections, and the memories and values it represents. The house's endearing name, Bale Pinaud (Kapampangan for nipa house), became the title of a book written by the David brothers—Randy, Nestor, and David (also known as Goli). This book, launched at the Betis church’s museum, serves as a diary of family memories and includes videos embedded in QR codes. The sketches of the house in different years provide a model for restoration and documentation of its evolution.
