In celebration of the National Indigenous Peoples (IP) Month and in consonance with Bayawan City Ordinance No. 26, Series of 2021, the LGU Bayawan City, in partnership with the NCIP Negros Oriental Provincial Office, successfully held the City-wide Culmination of the IP Month Celebration on October 29, 2025.
This year marks the 5th consecutive year that Bayawan City has celebrated and culminated the IP Month, with an annual allocation of โฑ600,000โa clear manifestation of the City Governmentโs unwavering commitment to supporting and empowering its Indigenous Cultural Communities/Indigenous Peoples (ICCs/IPs).
The event gathered the 7 Bukidnon ICCs/IPs of Bayawan City from the barangays of Cansumalig, Kalamtukan, Maninihon, Minaba, Nangka, Narra, and Tayawan, together with IP leaders and IPMRs from Canlaon City and the municipalities of Ayungon, Basay, and Mabinay.
Distinguished guests including Mayor John T. Raymond Jr., Vice Mayor Rusmar Ian D. Tijing, and City Councilor Mark Fidencio Aurelia shared inspiring messages of support, while NCIP Provincial Officer Virginia S. Espante delivered a meaningful message on the essence of the celebration and the continuing journey of empowering ICCs/IPs.
The celebration was also joined by representatives from DAR-MARPO, Philippine Coast Guard, Public Attorneyโs Office Bayawan, Bayawan City Police Station, and various LGU offices, along with DepEd SDO Bayawan City, and the dedicated committee members from city departments.
