TWO SUSPECTS ARRESTED IN CEBU KIDNAP-SLAY CASE

The Philippine National Police (PNP) has arrested two suspects in connection with the September 3 kidnap-slay incident in Sudlon 1, Cebu City, following focused follow-up operations that helped establish the circumstances surrounding the case.

The victim was reportedly taken from North Poblacion, Consolacion, Cebu, on September 3 and was later found dead in Sudlon 1, Cebu City. Police investigators from the Cebu City Police Office and Consolacion Municipal Police Station, with support from other investigative and intelligence units, immediately pursued leads from witnesses, CCTV footage, and vehicle information.

The investigation led authorities to trace a red vehicle allegedly linked to the incident to a rental car company. The vehicle was subsequently subjected to proper forensic examination as part of the continuing case buildup.

Two suspects were arrested separately in the early hours of September 5—one in Ermita, Cebu City, at around 3:00 a.m., and another in Cogon, Pardo, at around 5:00 a.m. The arrests were made through coordinated follow-up efforts of the operating units.

Chief PNP Police General Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr. said the development reflects the importance of timely investigation and close coordination in resolving serious cases.

“What matters now is that the investigation has moved forward. We have persons under custody, but the work does not end there. We will continue validating the evidence and making sure that the case is properly prepared for the next step in the justice process.” PGen Nartatez said.

The Chief PNP also emphasized that the police response must remain anchored on due process and respect for the rights of all persons involved as the investigation and appropriate legal proceedings continue.

24-YEAR-OLD INDIAN NATIONAL RESCUED IN LAS PIÑAS, FIVE ARRESTED

The Philippine National Police (PNP) rescued a 24-year-old Indian national and arrested five Indian nationals in a police operation in Las Piñas City on September 5, 2026.

The victim, a 24-year-old male medical student, was safely recovered along the Alabang-Zapote Road, Brgy Pamplona Tres, Las Piñas City. Five suspects, all Indian nationals aged 24 to 26, were also taken into police custody during the operation.

The operation was carried out by personnel of the Anti-Kidnapping Group (AKG), in coordination with the Las Piñas City Police Station and Southern Police District. The victim and the arrested suspects were brought to the AKG headquarters for documentation and appropriate legal proceedings.

PNP Chief Police General Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr. said the successful rescue reflects the importance of timely police action and coordination, particularly in cases where the safety of a person is at stake.

“Ang mahalaga, ligtas ang biktima at agad na nakakilos ang ating mga tauhan. We will continue to respond with urgency, while making sure that every step is done properly and within the law,” PGen Nartatez said.

81 FI****MS SURRENDERED IN ONE-DAY PNP OPERATIONS IN WESTERN VISAYAS

The Philippine National Police continues to strengthen its efforts to address loose fi****ms and prevent their possible use in criminal activities, as police units in Western Visayas recorded the surrender of 81 fi****ms in 91 operations conducted on September 5, 2026, along with the recovery of 10 explosive items and the arrest of two individuals.

The operations covered the provinces of Aklan, Antique, Capiz, Guimaras, and Iloilo, as well as Iloilo City. Two additional fi****ms were voluntarily turned over to authorities, while police personnel also conducted house visits as part of their continuing efforts to account for potentially dangerous weapons and explosive materials.

Chief PNP Police General Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr. said the PNP’s approach is focused not only on enforcement but, more importantly, on preventing fi****ms and explosives from becoming instruments of violence.

“Kapag may armas na naiturn-over at hindi na mapapagamit sa krimen, may isang panganib na nabawasan. That is the value of this effort. We will keep working with our communities while making sure that every operation is lawful, measured, and properly accounted for,” PGen Nartatez said.

REGION 12’S NO. 1 MOST WANTED PERSON ARRESTED OVER SYNDICATED ESTAFA CASE

A court-issued warrant led police authorities to the arrest of the No. 1 Most Wanted Person at the regional level in General Santos City, marking another successful effort to locate individuals facing pending criminal cases.

The suspect was arrested on September 4, 2026, along Nuñez Street, Barangay San Isidro, General Santos City, during a warrant-service operation conducted by personnel of Police Station 4 of the General Santos City Police Office, with support from the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group–Sarangani Provincial Field Unit and the 1201st Company of the Regional Mobile Force Battalion 12.

The suspect is facing a charge of syndicated estafa under Article 315, Paragraph 2(A) of the Revised Penal Code in relation to Presidential Decree No. 1689. The warrant was issued by the Regional Trial Court in General Santos City, with no bail recommended.

Chief, PNP Police General Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr. said the arrest reflects the importance of sustained police work in locating persons who are the subject of valid court processes.

“This arrest shows that sustained police work matters. We will continue to locate wanted persons and ensure that they are brought within the legal process, with the same professionalism whether the case is high-profile or not,” PGen Nartatez said.
