The Department of Trade and Industry–Guimaras, in collaboration with the College of Science and Technology of Guimaras State University, assisted in the extension activity entitled “Enhancing MSME Digital Capabilities through Canva and NotebookLM Integration,” which was spearheaded by the College of Science and Technology of Guimaras State University on May 26, 2026, at GSU–Salvador Campus, McLain, Buenavista, Guimaras.

The activity aimed to strengthen the digital capabilities of MSMEs through hands-on learning and practical applications focusing on:

• Content creation and marketing using Canva
• Productivity and AI-assisted tools using NotebookLM
• DTI services for MSMEs

The extension activity was participated in by 48 representatives from cooperatives, associations, and MSMEs across the province. Participants actively engaged in discussions and hands-on activities, successfully producing outputs during the workshop sessions.

The activity highlighted the strong collaboration between the Department of Trade and Industry and the College of Science and Technology of Guimaras State University in empowering MSMEs through digital innovation, skills development, and community extension initiatives.

𝗗𝗧𝗜 𝗚𝘂𝗶𝗺𝗮𝗿𝗮𝘀 𝗙𝗮𝗰𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗲𝘀 𝗣𝗼𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗘𝘅𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁 𝗣𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗻𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗛𝗼𝗻𝗴𝗸𝗼𝗻𝗴 𝗜𝗺𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗲𝗿

The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Guimaras facilitated a series of meetings and farm and firm visits for a Ms. Karmen Law, a Hong Kong-based importer from 18–20 May 2026 to explore potential export opportunities for Guimaras mangoes and processed products. Ms. Law was able to meet the mango industry leaders and different growers and processors where she was able to see for herself the status and potential of Guimaras Mango.

The three-day engagement aimed to showcase the quality, export readiness, and market potential of Guimaras products while strengthening prospective business linkages with the international market.

A meeting with P**O Francis Gentoral was also facilitated wherein discussions focused on mango production capacity, peak and off-season supply, and the role of Geographical Indication (GI) certification in enhancing product identity and market positioning. Export procedures, documentation requirements, and logistics arrangements were also discussed. In addition, value-adding opportunities for mango-based processed products were presented.

The activity was headed by OIC Juvy D. Benliro of DTI Guimaras, together with DTI Staff Jessa Marie Tibajares and Lester S. Esmaña, and participated in by the Guimaras Mango Growers and Producers Development Cooperative, Mcnester Food Products, Guimaras Wonder’s Farm, Provincial Economic Development Office, and Kokomojo Mango Farm.
