Another chapter in the journey toward a more literate and empowered generation begins!

On August 13, 2026, the Project GARIN Year 5 Launching Program was held at the Guimbal Central Elementary Conference Room, marking the continued commitment of the Municipality of Guimbal to strengthen reading and literacy among learners.

Project GARIN (Gainful Activities in Reading Through Innovation) is an education initiative by Hon. Mayor, Jennifer Garin Colada that promotes meaningful, engaging, and innovative approaches to reading. Through strengthened collaboration between the Local Government Unit and DepEd, the project aims to help learners develop their reading skills, build confidence, cultivate a love for reading, and create more opportunities for learning beyond the traditional classroom.

Now on its fifth year, Project GARIN continues to evolve by encouraging innovative reading activities and stronger participation from teachers, school leaders, parents, community partners, and local stakeholders. More than improving reading proficiency, the project seeks to inspire learners to discover the joy of reading and recognize it as a foundation for lifelong learning.

The launching program was headed by Hon. Mayor Jennifer Garin Colada, together with SB Chairman on Committee on Education Hon. Mary Ann Suyao-Lujan, SKMF President Hon. Ma Yumilca Gepulle,LIGA President, Hon. Rey Angelo Gonzales, PSDS Mrs. Evangelina Jala DepEd Elementary and High School Heads,, and the dedicated faculty and staff.

With innovation as our tool, collaboration as our strength, and education as our commitment, Project GARIN Year 5 continues to make every page a step toward a brighter future for the children of Guimbal.
