Batbat High School Secures Land Title, Strengthens Foundation for Future Learners
A major milestone in the history of Batbat High School was achieved as the institution officially secured the land title of its school site through the issuance of an Original Certificate of Title (Special Patent) from the Land Registration Authority, in coordination with the Department of Environment and Natural Resources.
The title covers the 11,852-square-meter property located in Barangay Batbat, Guinobatan, formally establishing the legal ownership of the school over the land where it stands. This development ensures the long-term security of the campus and supports the continued expansion of educational facilities and programs for the community.
The successful acquisition of the land title was made possible through the leadership and initiative of School Head, Dexter M. Orlina, JD, together with the collective dedication and cooperation of the faculty and staff of Batbat High School. The school also acknowledged the support of SDO Albay, the Legal Unit, partner agencies, local officials, and stakeholders whose contributions helped make the achievement possible.
A School Built by Community Effort
Established in 1991, Batbat High School began as an extension of Malipo National High School, through the initiative of the barangay council led by Mrs. Mila Garcia. The school started modestly with only one teacher and a makeshift classroom located at the Batbat Elementary School site.
Despite limited facilities and resources, the school gradually developed with the support of local officials, parents, and community members who recognized education as a vital instrument for community progress. In School Year 2002β2003, the school received its first permanent classroom from the Department of Education. In 2005, an 11,852-square-meter school site was donated through the leadership of Mrs. Angelica N. Guiriba with the assistance of Barangay Captain Javier Dayandante.
After fifteen years as an extension school, Batbat Extension High School officially became an independent institution on 25 April 2006, and was renamed Batbat High School.
Today, the school offers both Junior High School and Senior High School curricula, providing learners with comprehensive secondary education aligned with the national K to 12 program. Through the years, the school has continued to improve its facilities and programs, including the establishment of a Drum and Lyre Corps in 2010, the acquisition of computer units through the DepEd Computerization Program, and the construction of a covered court in 2020 for school and community activities.
For more than three decades, Batbat High School has served learners not only from Barangay Batbat but also from neighboring communities. The institution has produced numerous graduates who now pursue various careers and professions.
With the official acquisition of its land title, Batbat High School marks another historic step forwardβstrengthening its foundation as an institution committed to delivering quality education and empowering future generations.
