And we’re so back!!!

A look back at the success of last week’s event.

With a shared vision of empowering communities and building resilience against future challenges, the Municipality of Guiuan, Eastern Samar officially launched its journey under the Philippine Community Resilience Project (PCRP) through the successful conduct of the Municipal Resilience Team (MResT) Organizational Meeting.

This milestone marks the beginning of a collaborative effort among the Local Government Unit, national government agencies, barangays, civil society organizations, and community partners to strengthen disaster resilience, promote inclusive development, and empower every Guiuananon to become an active partner in shaping a safer and more sustainable future.

The activity brought together members of the Municipal Resilience Team (MResT), the Area Coordinating Team (ACT), Municipal Coordinating Team (MCT), representatives from various Municipal Government Offices, Barangay Officials, National Government Agencies, Civil Society Organizations (CSOs), and other key stakeholders.

The orientation provided participants with a comprehensive overview of the Philippine Community Resilience Project, including its objectives, implementation process, and the vital roles and responsibilities of partner stakeholders. Discussions also covered the composition and functions of the Municipal Resilience Team, municipal profiling and data requirements, the establishment of the Municipal Stakeholders Feedback Mechanism Committee, and the preliminary schedule of activities leading to the Participatory Risk and Vulnerability Assessment (PRVA) and Municipal Resilience Planning.

A highlight of the activity was the Manifesto of Support and Pledge of Commitment, where participating agencies and stakeholders reaffirmed their collective dedication to ensuring the successful implementation of the project and advancing resilience initiatives across the Municipality of Guiuan.

We extend our sincere appreciation to Hon. Annaliza Gonzales-Kwan, Municipal Mayor of Guiuan, for her unwavering leadership, steadfast support, and commitment to building safer, stronger, and more resilient communities. Her vision and dedication continue to inspire collaboration among all stakeholders toward achieving sustainable local development.

Our heartfelt gratitude also goes to the members of the Sangguniang Bayan, Municipal Department Heads, Barangay Officials, National Government Agencies, Civil Society Organizations, partner institutions, and all stakeholders whose active participation and commitment made this activity a success.

Together, let us continue turning resilience into action and partnership into lasting progress. By working as one community, we can build a future where every Guiuananon is prepared, empowered, and resilient.

One Month of Progress: Strengthening Foundations in Guiuan 📍

It has been exactly one month since our Area Coordinating Team (ACT) conducted our initial courtesy call with Mayor Annaliza Gonzales-Kwan. Since that productive meeting, our team has hit the ground running to support the continued development efforts in our municipality.

We are proud to share that we have already reached 26 out of 60 barangays, conducting simultaneous courtesy calls and initiating community consultations and information sharing. This step is not only essential for understanding the current situation of each community but also serves as a valuable initiative in building a reliable knowledge base that can be used for future planning, decision-making, and other emerging needs.

The courtesy call is more than just a formal protocol; it is a cornerstone of our community-driven approach. By engaging directly with our local leaders, we establish mutual respect, ensure transparency, and align our goals with the actual needs of the residents. This initial dialogue paves the way for genuine participation and ensures that every initiative we undertake is grounded in the community’s trust.

As we move forward, we remain dedicated to maintaining strong and collaborative partnerships at both the Barangay and Municipal levels. Together with our local officials and stakeholders, we are building a more resilient and empowered Guiuan. 🤝✨

Empowering Sulangan⚡️

Three Days of Preparation for a Stronger, More Resilient Future!

Our Area Coordinating Team (ACT), together with the Municipal Coordinating Teams (MCT) of Guiuan and Mercedes, successfully completed an intensive 3-day Crash Course for the Philippine Community Resilience Project (PCRP), firmly anchored in the core principles of Community-Driven Development (CDD) under Kalahi-CIDSS.

This meaningful engagement served not only as a learning opportunity, but as a reaffirmation of our commitment to participatory, transparent, and community-led development. It deepened our collective understanding of how to effectively facilitate processes that place communities at the center of decision-making, ensuring that development interventions are responsive, inclusive, and sustainable.

By strengthening our capacities in planning, coordination, and facilitation, we are now better prepared to guide our 60 barangays in identifying their priorities, mobilizing resources, and implementing solutions that build long-term resilience.

More than just a training, this experience has renewed our shared purpose—to empower communities, amplify every voice, and sustain the spirit of bayanihan in every step of development.
