DIGITAL BALANCE, REAL CONNECTIONS!

A two-part classroom-based advocacy campaign was conducted for our Grade 7 students at Sulangan National High School, tackling a very timely issue — digital addiction — and encouraging healthier digital habits among the youth.

Through interactive discussions and engaging sessions, students learned how to strike a balance between screen time and real-life connections, building awareness on the importance of using technology responsibly. Three Resource Speakers discussed relevant topics during the activity; Jessa Marie Padual-SWO III, Jayson Abrajano-LYDO Designate, Vanessa Mae Lucero-SWO II.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Ma'am Alma Macawile, School Principal for their full cooperation and support in making this advocacy campaign possible. Special thanks as well to our Local Government Unit through Mayor Annaliza Gonzales-Kwan and MSWD Officer Mam Zenaida Cunanan for their unwavering commitment to advancing youth welfare and empowering our young people to become responsible digital citizens.

In support of good governance and youth participation, the Local Youth Development Officer (LYDO)-Designate, Jayson C. Abrajano extended technical assistance to Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) Councils of Barangay Sulangan & Barangay Taytay in the proper conduct of the SK Special Elections — guiding them through documentation, coordination with the Commission on Elections (COMELEC), and compliance with election guidelines.

This initiative is anchored on Republic Act No. 10742, otherwise known as the "Sangguniang Kabataan Reform Act of 2015," as amended by Republic Act No. 11768, and JMC No. 01 Series of 2024.

The Local Government Unit of Guiuan is committed to strengthen youth governance while ensuring a smooth, transparent, and orderly SK Special Election process. Our utmost gratitude to Mayor Annaliza Gonzales-Kwan for her unwavering support to all youth endeavors and Hon. Franzdale Somoray for his steadfast dedication for the youth of Guiuan.

Guiuan Youth Development Office successfully conducted 2 Batches of Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) Mandatory Training, in compliance with Republic Act No. 10742, otherwise known as the "Sangguniang Kabataan Reform Act of 2015," which requires all newly elected and appointed SK officials to undergo training prior to their assumption to office.

The Youth Development Officer Designate-Jayson C. Abrajano served as the Resource Person throughout the training, equipping our SK officials with the knowledge and skills needed to fulfill their mandate.

Sangguniang Kabataan Federation President, Hon. Franzdale C. Somoray grace the event with a Welcome Message and message of encouragement to all trainees, motivating our young leaders as they step into their roles.

The LGU through Hon. Annaliza Gonzaless-Kwan reaffirms its full support to all youth programs and activities, empowering our young leaders to serve with competence and integrity.

Key highlights include the discussion of the Local Youth Development Plan (LYDP) and various youth-related programs and projects spearheaded by the Sangguniang Kabataan across our barangays.

The LGU through Mayor Annaliza Gonzales Kwan reaffirms its commitment to fostering meaningful youth participation and sustainable development initiatives. This reflects the local government's continuing dedication to providing the necessary support, resources, and opportunities that empower the youth sector and strengthen their role as active partners in nation-building.
