The Hilongos Local Youth Development Council (HiLYDC) serves as a platform where young Hilongonons can be heard, consulted, and involved in matters concerning youth development in our municipality.
It brings together representatives from youth and youth-serving organizations, creating a space where the needs, concerns, ideas, and aspirations of young people can be brought forward and considered in local youth development.
More than just a youth organization, the HiLYDC is part of a mechanism established by law to strengthen meaningful youth participation in local governance.
Under Republic Act No. 10742, or the Sangguniang Kabataan Reform Act of 2015, as amended by Republic Act No. 11768, a Local Youth Development Council is established at the provincial, city, and municipal levels. Among its functions is to assist in the planning and implementation of youth programs and projects and to provide a venue for consultation among youth organizations and sectors.
For Hilongos, this means that the youth have a formal space to participate in shaping the future of our own community.
So, to every batang Hilongonon: Your voice matters. Your ideas matter. Your concerns matter. And most importantly, your participation matters.
Because in Hilongos, the youth are not only the future of the community. We are part of its presentโand we deserve a voice in shaping it.
