A little photo dump from a night under the Piaya Moon! πŸŒ™πŸ₯§πŸŽ¬
Our first ever Community Screening of Under a Piaya Moon brought our kasimanwa together at the Himamaylan City Public Library for two back-to-back screenings as part of our Buwan ng Wika celebration.
From the laughter and kilig to the quiet moments that had everyone glued to the screen, it was wonderful to see our community enjoying a story that feels close to home. And thanks to Merzci and Quan, our viewers didn't just get to see the food that helped bring the story to life. They got to taste it, too! πŸ˜‹πŸ₯§
Our heartfelt thanks to Direk Kurt Soberano, Bakunawa Films, Green Pelican Studios, Jungle Room Creatives, Puregold CinePanalo, and of course our VM Justin Gatuslao for helping us bring this beautiful Negrense story to Himamaylan.
Here are some of our favorite moments from a special evening of film, food, culture, and community. πŸ“ΈπŸ§‘

Happy Ninoy Aquino Day! πŸ‡΅πŸ‡

Today, we remember the courage, sacrifice, and enduring legacy of Benigno β€œNinoy” Aquino Jr. His life reminds us that the pursuit of freedom, democracy, and truth requires courage and a commitment to serve the Filipino people.

As we honor his memory, may we continue to value the power of knowledge, education, and informed citizenship in building a better Philippines.

A little photo dump from an afternoon of stories, laughter, and Kasaysayan! πŸ“ΈπŸ“šβœ¨

History comes alive when we share the stories behind it. Our Kasaysayan: Tracing the Stories That Defined Us brought young learners, history enthusiasts, and curious minds together at the Himamaylan City Public Library for an afternoon of conversations, discoveries, and a little bit of merienda as part of our History Month celebration.

We were grateful to learn from Raymond Alunan Bayot, OIC of the Negros Occidental Tourism Division, and Neil Solomon Lopez Locsin, Chairman of the Negros Occidental Historical Council, who helped make our conversation about history engaging, meaningful, and closer to home. And of course, every good history session needs merienda! πŸ˜‹ Our participants enjoyed classic kakanin generously shared by our friends from Quan and Merzci, giving everyone a literal taste of the stories and traditions we talked about.

A special salute to our Vice Mayor and lifelong educator, VM Justin Gatuslao, whose continued support for learning, culture, and community spaces helps make gatherings like this possible. 🧑

To everyone who joined us, shared a story, asked a question, listened, laughed, and learned with us, salamat gid! These moments remind us that history is not simply something we read in books. It is something we inherit, share, and carry forward together.

Hats off to our VMayor and Lifelong Educator, VM Justin Gatuslao for making this happen!

Thank you to everyone who joined us and helped make this gathering possible. At the library, we believe that preserving history is not only about remembering the past, but also about giving the next generation a deeper understanding of where we came from. πŸ§‘πŸ“–

Big ideas need spaces where they can be heard. πŸ’‘πŸ“š

The Himamaylan City Public Library was honored to serve as the venue for the 2026 Panukib Research Defense Proposal of the Special Program in Science, Technology, and Engineering (SPSTE) students of Himamaylan National High School. Guided by the theme, "Harnessing the Unknown: Powering the Future through Science and Innovation," these young researchers presented ideas that reflect not only academic excellence but also their desire to create meaningful solutions for the community.

At the Himamaylan City Public Library, we believe that learning extends beyond books and classrooms. By opening our spaces to learners, researchers, and innovators, we hope to continue fostering curiosity, collaboration, and a lifelong love for discovery. We congratulate all the student researchers and wish them continued success in their scientific journey! 🌱✨
