Bite into Wellness: Capilijan ES Marches for Nutrition Rights

Capilijan, Aklan — With vibrant colors, lively drumbeats, and inspiring messages, Capilijan Elementary School successfully celebrated Nutrition Month on July 31, 2025, bearing the national theme: ā€œFood at Nutrition Security, Maging Priority! Sapat na Pagkain, Karapatan Natin!ā€

The day began at 9:00 AM with a festive parade around the barangay, led by the Patikeros Drum and Lyre Corps, joined by students, teachers, and parents. Participants proudly showcased costumes inspired by fruits, vegetables, and healthy foods, reinforcing the importance of good nutrition in everyday life.

Gracing the event was Barangay Kagawad Nely Asa, who served as guest speaker. In her message, she emphasized the significance of eating a balanced diet, maintaining a healthy lifestyle, and recognizing nutritious food as a basic right for all children.

ā€œAng sapat na pagkain ay hindi dapat maging pangarap lamang—ito ay karapatan ng bawat isa,ā€ said Kagawad Asa, drawing attention to food and nutrition security for all families.

After the parade, a Best in Costume contest was held, judged by Kagawad Asa and Ms. Gemma Sitjar, who praised the students’ creativity and enthusiasm.

To further promote wellness, a feeding program was conducted per grade level, ensuring that learners received nutritious meals. This was followed by a mass exercise activity, where students and teachers participated in fun physical routines, reinforcing the value of daily movement for a healthy body.

The celebration continued in the afternoon with a series of engaging contests, including a Slogan Writing Contest, Poster Making Contest, and a Nutri-Quiz Bee, all designed to deepen students’ understanding of nutrition, health, and food security.

The event was a resounding success, thanks to the collaboration of teachers, parents, barangay officials, and the entire school community. Mrs. Gina S. Perucho expressed appreciation for everyone’s efforts, saying,

ā€œMore than the contests and costumes, this celebration reminds us that proper nutrition is the foundation of learning and living well.ā€

Through this meaningful and joyful celebration, Capilijan Elementary School continues to champion every child’s right to a healthy life and a nourished future.
