The Municipal Government of Igbaras advises the public to remain alert and take necessary precautions as smoke and haze from ongoing forest fires in Kalimantan, Indonesia have reached parts of the Philippines, including the Visayas.
Due to the prevailing Habagat (Southwest Monsoon), moderate to heavy haze may be experienced in Iloilo, including Igbaras.
Haze can contribute to air pollution and may increase the risk of respiratory infections and cardiovascular problems, particularly among children, older adults, and individuals with respiratory or cardiovascular conditions.
Residents are advised to observe the following precautions:
π‘ Stay indoors when possible and keep doors and windows closed;
π‘ Wear a face mask when going outdoors;
π‘ Avoid strenuous physical activities and prolonged exposure to haze;
π‘ Stay hydrated;
π‘ Exercise caution when driving due to reduced visibility; use headlights or fog lights when necessary;
π‘ Avoid low-lying areas where smoke may accumulate;
π‘ Seek medical attention if experiencing difficulty breathing, persistent cough, chest pain, or severe eye, nose, or throat irritation.
