MALAY PNP READY FOR HOLY WEEK AND SUMMER TOURIST INFLUX IN BORACAY
Malay, Aklan โ The Malay Municipal Police Station has heightened its security preparations in anticipation of the influx of local and international tourists expected to visit Boracay Island during the Holy Week and summer season.
In line with the directive of the Chief, Philippine National Police, Police General JOSE MELENCIO C NARTATEZ JR., all police units are placed under heightened alert under the LIGTAS SUMVAC 2026 program to ensure maximum police visibility and public safety during the peak travel period.
Under the leadership of PLTCOL ALAIN TERENCE L LICDAN, Chief of Police, and guided by PBGEN JOSEFINO D LIGAN, Regional Director of Police Regional Office 6, and PCOL ARNEL E RAMOS, Provincial Director of Aklan Police Provincial Office, the Malay MPS has intensified the deployment of personnel in key areas of convergence.
A total of 261 police personnel have been deployed to strategic locations, including beaches, ports of entry, transport terminals, and other tourist hotspots. These personnel are conducting foot patrols, mobile patrols, traffic management, and public assistance operations to ensure a safe and orderly environment for all.
To further enhance operational efficiency, the Malay PNP is also utilizing real-time monitoring through Google Location Sharing to track the deployment of personnel and ensure immediate response to any incident.
Security operations are being carried out in close coordination with the Local Government Unit of Malay, barangay officials, the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO), the tourism sector, the Philippine Coast Guard, and other partner agencies. These collaborative efforts have consistently contributed to the successful conduct of major events on the island, many of which recorded zero major incidents.
In addition, the Malay MPS has strengthened its preventive measures against common crimes, particularly the โsalisiโ modus operandi, where suspects take advantage of unattended belongings, especially in beach areas.
Police also reminded tourists to remain vigilant, secure their personal belongings, and transact only with legitimate and accredited establishments to avoid scams and fraudulent activities.
