The City Mayor’s Office – Gender and Development (CMO-GAD) conducted an orientation for the women of Barangay Hindang at Bacuitana Elementary School, focusing on key Gender and Development laws and frameworks that promote the protection, empowerment, and advancement of women.

The orientation covered RA 9710 (Magna Carta of Women), RA 11313 (Safe Spaces Act), and RA 9262 (Anti-Violence Against Women and Their Children Act), providing participants with important information on women's rights, protection mechanisms, and available avenues for support and assistance.

The activity also included an orientation on the Harmonized Gender and Development Guidelines (HGDG) and the Gender and Development Plan and Budget (GPB), helping participants better understand how GAD initiatives are planned and implemented to respond to the needs and concerns of women and communities.

Through initiatives like this, CMO-GAD continues to bring gender awareness, legal knowledge, and empowerment closer to communities, strengthening women's capacity to recognize their rights and actively participate in building safe, inclusive, and gender-responsive communities.

On August 12, 2026, the City Mayor’s Office – Gender and Development (CMO-GAD) conducted an IPCR Workshop at Soy Café, Iligan City, providing CMO-GAD personnel with an opportunity to strengthen their understanding and skills in preparing clear, measurable, and results-oriented Individual Performance Commitment and Review (IPCR) outputs.

The workshop served as a collaborative session where personnel reviewed their respective responsibilities, performance commitments, success indicators, and expected outputs, ensuring that individual targets are aligned with the programs and objectives of CMO-GAD.

CMO-GAD extends its huge appreciation and heartfelt thanks to 𝐉𝐔𝐋𝐈𝐔𝐒 𝐂𝐄𝐀𝐙𝐀𝐑 𝐒. 𝐃𝐀𝐆𝐓𝐈𝐍𝐆, Division Head, CAD Administrative Support Division, City Government of Iligan, for serving as the resource person and providing valuable technical assistance during the IPCR drafting session.

Your expertise and guidance significantly contributed to enhancing the knowledge, skills, and competencies of CMO-GAD personnel in developing meaningful performance commitments and measurable outputs toward improved public service delivery.

💜 𝐉𝐨𝐢𝐧𝐭 𝐓𝐞𝐜𝐡𝐧𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐖𝐨𝐫𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐆𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐩 (𝐓𝐖𝐆) 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐆𝐀𝐃 𝐈𝐧𝐟𝐫𝐚𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐮𝐜𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞 💜

On August 12, 2026, the City Mayor’s Office – Gender and Development (CMO-GAD) convened the Joint Technical Working Group (TWG) for GAD Infrastructure to discuss progress updates, technical assessments, and strategic directions for the continued development of the Women Crisis Center and Child-Minding Center.

The meeting commenced with opening remarks from Renefe M. Padilla, OIC–Division Head of CMO-GAD and LGU GAD Focal Person, who emphasized the importance of collaboration among partner offices in ensuring that the GAD Infrastructure remains responsive to the needs of women, children, and other vulnerable sectors.

Among the highlights of the meeting were the Construction Updates presented by Engr. Leonor Actub, Head of the City Engineer’s Office (CEO), providing updates on the current status and development of the facilities. This was followed by the DRRM Assessment presented by Michael Joey Hernando, representing Armien Alloro, Head of the Iligan City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (ICDRRMO), which focused on safety measures, disaster preparedness, and risk mitigation considerations for the infrastructure.

The discussions were further enriched by the guidance of Maida B. Daniot, CESO V, City Director of the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG), who emphasized the importance of strong local governance, inter-agency coordination, and shared accountability in advancing gender-responsive programs and infrastructure. Her message reinforced the vital role of collaboration in ensuring the long-term sustainability and effectiveness of the project.

Also present was Evelyn S. Madrio, RSW, Department Head of the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWD), who shared valuable insights on strengthening services and support mechanisms for women and children. Both officials delivered closing messages encouraging continued partnership and commitment among member agencies.

The activity was conducted in support of Hon. Frederick W. Siao, City Mayor of Iligan, and Hon. Michelle E. Sweet, SP Chairperson on Women, Gender and Development, with the active participation of concerned department heads, technical personnel, and partner representatives.

💜 Through the Joint TWG, CMO-GAD and its partner agencies continue to work hand in hand in strengthening gender-responsive infrastructure and creating safer, more accessible, and inclusive spaces for women and children in Iligan City.

On August 10, 2026, the City Mayor’s Office – Gender and Development (CMO-GAD) conducted the Hugyaw sa Sayaw 2026 – Year 4 Orientation, bringing together representatives from the Women’s Associations serving as barangay representatives in preparation for this year’s celebration.

With the theme “Hugyaw sa Kababayen-an: Iliganon—Kultura, Kahiusa, ug Kusog sa Kababayen-an,” this year’s activity forms part of the Diyandi Festival 2026 celebration in Iligan City, highlighting the culture, unity, and strength of Iliganon women through dance and community participation.

Through Hugyaw sa Sayaw, women’s associations from across the city are given an opportunity to showcase their talents, celebrate Iliganon culture, and strengthen solidarity as they come together for this year’s festivities.
