The 𝐂𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐆𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐧𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐨𝐟 𝐈𝐥𝐢𝐠𝐚𝐧, the 𝐍𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐢𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐨𝐧 𝐈𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐠𝐞𝐧𝐨𝐮𝐬 𝐏𝐞𝐨𝐩𝐥𝐞𝐬 (𝐍𝐂𝐈𝐏), represented by NCIP Region X Director Ordonio P. Rocero Jr., the 𝐇𝐢𝐠𝐚𝐨𝐧𝐨𝐧 𝐈𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐠𝐞𝐧𝐨𝐮𝐬 𝐂𝐮𝐥𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐚𝐥 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐨𝐟 𝐈𝐥𝐢𝐠𝐚𝐧 𝐂𝐢𝐭𝐲, and 𝐄𝐜𝐨𝐬𝐲𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐦𝐬 𝐖𝐨𝐫𝐤 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐄𝐬𝐬𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐁𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐟𝐢𝐭𝐬 𝐈𝐧𝐜. (𝐄𝐂𝐎𝐖𝐄𝐁) have formalized a strategic partnership to finalize the 𝐀𝐧𝐜𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐥 𝐃𝐨𝐦𝐚𝐢𝐧 𝐒𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐞 𝐃𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐥𝐨𝐩𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐭𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐏𝐥𝐚𝐧 (𝐀𝐃𝐒𝐃𝐏𝐏) through a Memorandum of Agreement. This collaboration ensures that the Higaonon people’s right to self-determination is translated into a clear, actionable roadmap.

The ADSDPP is the comprehensive 5-year plan of the Indigenous People for the sustainable management of land, resources, and cultural integrity, in the full exercise of their right to self-governance as recognized by the Indigenous Peoples’ Rights Act of 1997 (IPRA). This plan will ensure that interventions of stakeholders, especially of the local government, are aligned with the aspirations of the Higaonon indigenous people.

This Memorandum of Agreement institutionalized the support of the Iligan City Government, under the leadership of Mayor Frederick W. Siao, in upholding the Higaonon community’s right to self-determination and empowered governance.

A recent meeting was held on August 29, 2025 at the CAD Office to review the progress of the Ancestral Domain Sustainable Development and Protection Plan (ADSDPP) 📋. Important updates were shared, and the next steps for moving forward with the planning process were set. 💪

Representatives from various offices, including CPDO, NCIP, EcoWEB, DepEd, Atty. Joshua Koppin from CLO, and IPMR Councilor Renandang Comonog, attended the meeting 🤝, working together to ensure the success of this vital initiative.

CPDO Strengthens Stakeholder Collaboration for Pantawid Services

On August 29, 2025, Renefe Mosot-Padilla, Division Chief of the Social Development Division (SDD), participated in the orientation for partnered stakeholders of Pantawid services at the Senior Citizen's Building, Macapagal-Macaraeg Ancestral House. The event aimed to strengthen collaboration between Pantawid staff and both government and non-government agencies.

Ang orientation naghatag og mas lawom nga pagsabot sa mga programa, serbisyo, ug papel sa matag stakeholder sa pagserbisyo sa mga benepisyaryo. The session helped deepen the understanding of how each stakeholder contributes to the beneficiaries' welfare.

Renefe Mosot-Padilla presented an overview of the City Planning and Development Office (CPDO)’s programs, mandates, target beneficiaries, referral mechanisms, and coordination protocols.

On August 28 and 29, 2025, City Planning and Development Office (CPDO), led by EnP Elsa M. Maquiling, City Planning and Development Coordinator and division heads Renefe Mosot-Padilla, Atty. Gimelle Manginsay-Honrejas, Paz Halibas, Engr. Emmanuel Jao, and other CPDO personnel, participated in a workshop hosted by the National Resilience Council (NRC) at Sweet Mommy's Palao in Iligan City. The event was organized in partnership with the Aboitiz Foundation, Pilmico, MSU-IIT, and the City Government of Iligan.

The workshop aimed to introduce Systems Thinking as a leadership approach to addressing risk and resilience challenges. By the end of the session, participants were equipped with knowledge and tools to better understand complex issues, improve collaboration with LGU partners, and apply strategies that enhance the city’s resilience.

Kini nga kalihokan usa ka dakong lakang sa pagpalig-on sa kapasidad sa atong mga lider ug komunidad sa pag-atubang sa mga kalisud. Through such initiatives, Iligan is taking significant steps towards a more resilient future.

The City Planning and Development Office (CPDO), represented by Art Jomari Casiño, participated in the Stakeholder’s Meeting organized by the Philippine Red Cross Iligan City Chapter last August 27, 2025, at the Go Hotel, Iligan City. The meeting focused on the theme "Advancing Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) and Anticipation in the Most Vulnerable Communities in the Philippines."

Ang maong meeting usa ka importante nga lakang aron mahatagan og solusyon ang mga kahimtang sa mga komunidad nga labing apektado sa mga kalamidad. With various stakeholders coming together, the event emphasized the importance of disaster preparedness, reducing risks, and enhancing anticipatory actions in communities most vulnerable to natural disasters.

The meeting also served as a platform to discuss best practices, share experiences, and collaborate on future actions to ensure the safety and well-being of our communities in times of disaster.

In a bid to ensure continuous improvement in service delivery, the City Planning and Development Office (CPDO), in collaboration with the City Engineers Office (CEO), Iligan City Waterworks System (ICWS), and the Office of the City Building Official (OCBO), conducted a forum to review their Office Performance Commitment and Review (OPCR) last August 27, 2025, at the ICGEMPC Hostel in Palao, Iligan City.

Ang OPCR review usa ka oportunidad aron ma-evaluate ang mga kalampusan ug makita ang mga aspeto nga kinahanglan pa ug dugang nga pag-ayo. The evaluation highlighted how the outcomes of their respective targets align with the city’s development goals and strategic priorities, ensuring that every effort contributes to the greater good of Iligan City.

This forum emphasized the importance of using the OPCR as a tool for accountability, efficiency, and better service delivery to the public. By continuously improving these processes, the city government is committed to fulfilling its mission of providing quality services to the people of Iligan.

For two days, leaders, peacebuilders, and advocates from across Mindanao gathered in Iligan City to engage in meaningful discussions aimed at promoting peace and collaboration in the region. The First Mindanao Ridge-to-Reef Peacebuilding Conference, organized by GIZ, in partnership with the City Government of Iligan, the LGUs of Cagayan de Oro, Opol, Manticao, Misamis Oriental, Talakag, Bukidnon, and Malimono Surigao del Norte, was a significant event in the pursuit of shared solutions to regional challenges.

Representatives from national agencies like DILG Region 10, led by RD Bruce Augusto Colao, NCIP, DENR, OMAHCC and various civil society organizations (CSOs) also played an important role. Local indigenous leaders, including the Higaonon tribe and local Datus and Baes, shared their perspectives, bringing cultural and community-driven insights into the discussions.

Ang conference usa ka dakong lakang para sa LGU Iligan, pinangunahan ni Mayor Frederick Siao, sa paghatag og oportunidad alang sa open dialogue ug pagtan-aw sa mga isyu sama sa boundary conflict, tourism concerns, ug ang Limunsudan Falls—usa sa mga natural nga kabantugan sa Mindanao.

Through active listening and collaboration, the conference focused on how inter-local cooperation, as outlined in the Local Government Code, can lead to sustainable solutions for the region’s challenges. It highlighted that by choosing to talk, listen, and understand each other, we can build lasting peace and development.

The Social Development Division (SDD) proudly announces nga nahuman na gyud ang series of Barangay Development Planning (BDP) Workshops para sa tanan 44 barangays sa Iligan City. Ang Barangay San Miguel mao ang pinaka-last nga barangay nga gi-conductan sa BDP Workshop, nga nahitabo last August 18–20, 2025, sa Plaza Alemania Hotel Function Hall.

In attendance were the Barangay Council headed by Punong Barangay Joel Jumawan, Barangay Nutrition Scholars (BNS), Barangay Health Workers (BHW), representatives from Iligan City Waterworks System (ICWS), City Engineer's Office (CEO) , and Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Local Government Operations Officer (LGOO) Mohajir S. Licawat, nga naghatag og overview ug orientation sa BDP process.

Bisan tuod nga sila ang last nga barangay sa BDP workshops, Barangay San Miguel showed active participation, bright ideas, and genuine passion para sa kalamboan sa ilang barangay. Ang workshop nahimong remarkable, productive, and successful, tungod sa ilang cooperation ug teamwork.

Renefe Mosot-Padilla, Division Chief of SDD, emphasized that even if San Miguel was the last, “this is only the beginning.” She assured that the City Planning and Development Office (CPDO), through the SDD, will continue to support and guide the barangays in finalizing their Barangay Development Plans (BDPs) and in preparing their Barangay Development Investment Programs (BDIPs) and Annual Investment Programs (AIPs).

Nangonsulta si Renefe Mosot-Padilla sa representative sa NCIP Region, inubanan sa City Administrator ug City Legal Office, aron mangayo og advise sa NCIP Regional ug Provincial bahin sa angay buhaton pagpadayon sa nasugdan nga kalihokan alang sa ADSDPP. Ang panag-istoryahanay nahitabo sa Talakag Municipal Hall, Bukidnon niadtong August 8, 2025.

Gihisgutan sa maong consultation ang status sa Ancestral Domain Sustainable Development and Protection Plan (ADSDPP) sa Iligan. Ang tumong sa panag-istorya mao ang pagsiguro nga ang plano ma-align sa regional guidelines ug aron makakuha og technical advice gikan sa NCIP Region kung unsa ang angay buhaton para sa hapsay nga paghuman ug implementasyon niini.

📌𝙇𝙂𝙐-𝙄𝙡𝙞𝙜𝙖𝙣 𝙎𝙝𝙤𝙬𝙨 𝙎𝙪𝙥𝙥𝙤𝙧𝙩 𝙩𝙤 𝙄𝙋 𝘾𝙤𝙢𝙢𝙪𝙣𝙞𝙩𝙞𝙚𝙨 𝙞𝙣 𝙇𝙞𝙢𝙪𝙣𝙨𝙪𝙙𝙖𝙣-𝙈𝙞𝙣𝙙𝙖𝙢𝙤𝙧𝙖 𝘿𝙞𝙖𝙡𝙤𝙜𝙪𝙚

Mitambong ang LGU-Iligan sa usa ka panagtagbo nga nakafocus sa paghisgot sa mga issues ug inisyatibo sa Indigenous Peoples (IP) communities, ilabina sa Basuc, Lantud, Bayug-Iligan, ug Lakipa. Ang meeting gipangunahan sa mga IP leaders kauban ang NCIP Region 10, NCIP Lanao del Norte, ug mga opisyal sa LGU-Talakag atong August 8, 2025 sa Talakag Municipal Hall sa Bukidnon.

Ang delegasyon sa Iligan City girepresentahan ni City Administrator Dr. Darwin J. Manubag, City IPMR Renandang M. Comonog, Deputy Mayor Amando Mansumayan, og mga representatives sa LGU-Iligan offices mao ang City Tourism Office, City Planning and Development Office (CPDO), Information and Communications Technology Center (ICTC), CMO–Office of the Maranao, Higaonon, and Other Cultural Communities (OMAHCC) ug mga IP Leaders sa 7 ka Gaop sa Iligan.

Sa maong panagtagbo, gipadayag sa LGU-Iligan ang suporta sa mga IP initiatives ug ang paghatag og respeto sa sacred sites sama sa Limunsudan Falls nga importante sa kultura sa mga Higaonon.
Usa sa mga gipangusgan nga rekomendasyon mao ang pag-establish og co-management arrangement nga mahimong tawgon Mindamora–Limunsudan Development Authority, ingon nga usa sa makasulbad sa conflicts ug masiguro nga magpabilin ang pagsinabtanay sa tanan.

Kini nga panagtagbo nagpamatuod sa importansya sa pagtinabangay ug mutual respect aron sa pagpreserve sa kultura ug makab-ot ang malungtarong kalambuan nga makahatag ug benepisyo sa tanan nga langkub sa komunidad.
