[𝐇𝐈𝐒𝐓𝐎𝐑𝐈𝐂 𝐌𝐈𝐋𝐄𝐒𝐓𝐎𝐍𝐄] ILIGAN CITY COMPLETES TWO-DAY PUBLIC HEARING FOR THE CLUP 2025–2037 & ZONING ORDINANCE! 🏛️✨

After months of rigorous data-gathering, technical reviews, and comprehensive sectoral consultations, the Comprehensive Land Use Plan (CLUP) 2025–2037 and Zoning Ordinance Public Hearing has officially concluded. Held on July 23 and 24, 2026, at Robinsons Place Iligan, this pivotal two-day gathering brought together hundreds of Iliganons across all sectors to help shape the future of our city. This landmark achievement marks a decisive step toward realizing a sustainable, resilient, and globally competitive "Smart Industropolis."

The two-day proceedings ensured that every corner of our City had a seat at the table. Day 1 centered on our urban and coastal corridors, diving into strategic discussions on transport management networks, commercial growth, coastal bypass routes, and urban renewal frameworks. Day 2 brought our hinterland and rural barangay leaders, indigenous communities, and upland stakeholders to the center stage, ensuring that rural infrastructure, agricultural preservation, economic zone expansion, and ancestral domain protection are fully integrated into our 12-year spatial blueprint.

This monumental milestone was made possible through the visionary leadership and collaborative synergy of our city officials. We extend our deepest gratitude to our City Mayor, Hon. Frederick Siao, whose vision for a data-driven, people-centric, and sustainable Iligan continues to guide our city’s development strategy. Equal appreciation goes to Hon. Atty. Marlene L. Young, SP Chairperson on Land Use Plan, Housing Development, and Urban Poor, for her steadfast legal stewardship and dedication to safeguarding public welfare, agricultural protection, and socialized housing security.

We also recognize the technical direction and leadership of our City Planning and Development Coordinator, EnP Elsa M. Maquiling, whose steadfast guidance steered the entire CPDO technical working group from step one down to this successful public presentation.

Planning turns into action when the community stays actively engaged. Pursuant to DHSUD statutory guidelines, a 15-calendar-day submission window is now open until August 5, 2026, for formal written position papers, comments, and sector feedback. Submissions may be handed in directly to the CPDO Secretariat or submitted through our official online channels. Together, we are not just planning for the future, we are building the legacy of Iligan City for generations to come!

📌CPDO Economic Division Participates in CPMIU Meeting

The City Planning and Development Office (CPDO) – Economic Division actively participated in the City Project Management and Implementation Unit (CPMIU) Meeting held on July 20, 2026, at the Co-op Hostel & Café.

The meeting served as a venue for discussing key initiatives and updates aimed at strengthening the city's agricultural and economic development programs. Among the major agenda presented was the Final Draft of the City Commodity Investment Plan (CCIP) 2025–2029, which outlines strategic investments to enhance the competitiveness and sustainability of priority commodities in the city.

Participants also discussed the conduct of the Community Consultation Public Hearing in Barangay Kiwalan, ensuring meaningful stakeholder engagement in the planning and implementation of development initiatives. Updates were likewise presented on the Integrated Halal Livestock Enterprise Project under the Philippine Rural Development Project (PRDP) Scale-Up, highlighting its progress and expected contributions to the local livestock industry.

In addition, the meeting covered the creation of the Grievance Redress Mechanism (GRM) Committee, which aims to establish an accessible and transparent system for addressing concerns and ensuring accountability throughout project implementation.

📌CPDO Joins PSA Courtesy Call with the City Mayor on 2027 CBMS and Lot Allocation Request

The City Planning and Development Office (CPDO), led by City Planning and Development Coordinator EnP. Elsa M. Maquiling, participated in the courtesy call of the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) with the City Mayor, Hon. Frederick W. Siao to discuss matters concerning the 2027 Community-Based Monitoring System (CBMS) and the agency's lot allocation request.

The meeting highlighted the importance of the Local Government Unit's continued collaboration with the PSA in the implementation of the 2027 CBMS, a nationwide initiative that generates comprehensive and disaggregated local data essential for evidence-based planning, policy formulation, budgeting, and the effective delivery of government programs and services.

Also presented during the meeting was the PSA's request for a lot allocation to support the agency's operational requirements, reinforcing its commitment to providing timely and reliable statistical services for the city.
