A new step toward strengthening digital learning and innovation was marked as the Digital Creatives Hub Iligan (DCHI), represented by Mr. Paul Hui Lagura, Management Partner of Hub Operations, and the La Salle Academy Iligan – Learning Resource Center (LRC), represented by Mr. Gorge B. Puertos Jr., LRC Head, have formally signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) establishing a collaborative partnership to support the development of a digital library ecosystem, digital innovation initiatives, and community knowledge programs in Iligan City.

The ceremony was joined by Mr. Bimbo Gabor, MIB, CIP, RFC, Consultant for Strategic Communication & Investments, whose expertise and guidance helped shape the partnership’s strategic vision.

The collaboration reflects a shared commitment to empowering students, educators, and the community through technology-enabled learning, creative innovation, and accessible knowledge resources. By joining forces, both institutions aim to foster a connected ecosystem where learners and community members can engage with digital tools, access curated knowledge resources, and participate in programs that drive learning and community development.

The MOU signing marks a milestone in digital collaboration, reflecting a vision to transform educational and community spaces into hubs for creativity, innovation, and knowledge sharing. Through this initiative, DCHI and La Salle Academy LRC will provide platforms and programs that enhance digital literacy, encourage creative problem-solving, and expand access to digital resources across Iligan City.

By bridging education, innovation, and community engagement, this collaboration underscores the role of strategic partnerships in nurturing a digitally empowered, knowledge-driven society.

𝗔𝗱𝘃𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗗𝗶𝗴𝗶𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗰𝗵 𝗧𝗵𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗴𝗵 𝗜𝗻𝘀𝘁𝗶𝘁𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗖𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗮𝗯𝗼𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻

Strengthening digital learning environments and expanding access to knowledge resources are becoming essential components of education in the digital age. In line with this direction, the Learning Resource Center (LRC) of La Salle Academy, Iligan City had a discussions with the Center for Digital Iligan Innovation and Sustainability (CDIIS), headed by Mr. Paul Hui Lagura, to explore a potential partnership that will support digital literacy, academic research, and innovation among students and faculty.

During the online meeting, representative from La Salle Academy Iligan, led by Learning Resource Center Head Gorge B. Puertos Jr., shared their ongoing initiative to transform their traditional library into a more dynamic digital resource center. Currently, approximately 60 percent of their library collection has already been digitized, with continuing efforts to integrate interactive learning technologies such as touchscreens, digital archives, and online resource-sharing platforms. The initiative aims to ensure broader access to knowledge while encouraging collaborative learning and research within the academic community.

In response, CDIIS presented the role of the Digital Creatives Hub as a platform that connects the academic sector with industry practitioners, government institutions, and local stakeholders. Through this ecosystem approach, the hub supports programs focused on digital transformation, innovation governance, and sustainability, while creating opportunities for students and educators to engage in real-world innovation initiatives.

Both institutions discussed several areas of potential collaboration, including capacity-building programs on digital innovation and sustainable practices, lectures and seminars on innovation governance and digital transformation, collaborative research and knowledge-sharing activities, and student participation in community-based innovation projects. The partnership also aims to develop integrated learning resources that promote digital literacy and sustainability within the academic environment.

The meeting further explored opportunities for La Salle Academy Iligan to participate in ongoing initiatives such as Wiki Club Iligan, which documents and shares knowledge about Iligan’s history, culture, and creative ecosystem, as well as digital literacy programs including the Hour of AI learning sessions designed to introduce students and communities to emerging technologies.

As a next step, both parties agreed to organize a follow-up visit to the Digital Creatives Hub to further identify collaborative programs and explore resource-sharing arrangements. The discussion also included the possibility of formalizing the partnership through a Memorandum of Understanding that will guide joint initiatives and knowledge exchange activities.

This emerging collaboration reflects a shared commitment to harnessing digital tools, innovation, and knowledge networks to strengthen learning ecosystems in Iligan. By connecting academic institutions with innovation platforms and community initiatives, CDIIS and La Salle Academy aim to empower students, educators, and local stakeholders to actively participate in a digitally enabled and future-ready learning environment.
