June 7 – A Day of Cultural Immersion, Learning, and Student Mobility Enrichment
On June 7, the BSBA students were warmly invited by Ma'am Retno to her family’s home to witness and take part in the sacred celebration of "Eid al-Adha", also known as "Eid ul-Qurban" or "Idul Qurban"—a significant Islamic tradition marked by the sacrifice of a lamb. This rare and meaningful opportunity allowed the students not only to observe but also to engage hands-on in the sacrificial process, including the skinning and preparation of the meat.
After the ceremony, the students shared a hearty lunch with Ma’am Retno’s family, deepening the spirit of unity, hospitality, and intercultural connection. In the afternoon, the students helped distribute the meat to the local community—an act of charity that reflects the core values of compassion and sharing in Eid al-Adha. This experience left a lasting impact on the students, as they witnessed how traditions foster social responsibility and community support—key principles that enhance their global and cultural awareness as future business professionals.
The cultural journey continued as the students rode motorcycles around the area, guided by Ma'am Retno and her family. Their first stop was a visit to her nephew’s "Plant Business"" , a local SME (Small and Medium Enterprise). Here, the students learned practical insights on how to manage a small enterprise—from product management and customer service to sustainability practices. It gave them a real-world perspective on entrepreneurship, innovation, and grassroots business strategies.
The next destination was the "biggest Hindu temple in Asia", where the students gained a deeper understanding of Hindu beliefs, rituals, and architectural grandeur. The visit opened their eyes to the importance of religious diversity and cultural tolerance—an essential component of student mobility that broadens perspectives and builds respect for global traditions.
🌿 The day concluded with a serene visit to "Situ Tamansari", a beautiful natural lake and recreational area. This final stop allowed the students to unwind, appreciate environmental conservation efforts, and reflect on the interconnectedness of culture, nature, and well-being.
This memorable day served as a rich platform for cultural immersion, experiential learning, and student mobility development. Through active participation, the BSBA students not only gained knowledge and cultural appreciation but also developed skills in adaptability, empathy, and global citizenship—qualities that are crucial in today’s interconnected world.
