The Philippine Information Agency (PIA) conducted a Digital Literacy Training at the Digital Transformation Center (DTC) San Jose, located at the DICT Antique Provincial Office. The training brought together the Barangay Information Officers Network (BIONS) of LGU San Jose as participants.

The training featured resource persons from Advanced Central College (ACC). Mr. Rani Rodriguez discussed Digital Security, while ACC staff facilitated the session on Google Workspace. Mrs. Mary Rose Rodriguez conducted the session on Canva, providing participants with practical knowledge and skills in using these digital tools.

Through discussions and hands-on learning activities, participants had the opportunity to enhance their digital knowledge and skills, particularly in accessing, creating, managing, and sharing information using digital platforms and tools.

The activity highlighted the importance of digital literacy in supporting effective communication and information dissemination within the community, helping empower the BIONS of LGU San Jose to make better use of technology in their roles and in serving the public.

In the spirit of inter-regional cooperation and mutual support, and under the guidance of DICT Secretary Henry Rhoel Aguda, the Department of Information and Communications Technology Regional Office VI, in coordination with DICT Negros Island Region (NIR), facilitated the provisional deployment of the Government Emergency Communications System โ€“ Mobile Operations Vehicle for Emergencies (GECS-MOVE) to Canlaon City.

The deployment aims to augment emergency telecommunications readiness and provide additional communications and connectivity capability in support of ongoing preparedness and response requirements in the area.

This initiative reflects the Departmentโ€™s commitment to interoperability, resource sharing, and coordinated action among regional offices, ensuring that critical ICT and emergency communications resources can be mobilized where they are most needed.

The journey toward a more digitally empowered local government begins today.

The DICT Region VI eLGU Team officially kicks off the Day 1 of the 5-day eLGU Admin Training and System Setup for LGU Batan, Aklan, from August 10โ€“14, 2026.

By availing the complete suite of eLGU modulesโ€”Business Permits and Licensing System (BPLS), eCedula, Electronic Local Civil Registry (eLCR), and eNews - LGU Batan, Aklan takes another significant step toward modernizing its frontline services. Throughout this five-day activity, key LGU personnel will undergo hands-on training and system configuration to ensure the effective implementation and sustainability of these digital solutions.

Together, we continue to strengthen digital governance and bring more efficient, transparent, and accessible public services closer to the people of LGU Batan, AKlan.
