The National Meat Inspection Service (NMIS) successfully conducted the Plant Operation Standards and Monitoring (POSM) Performance Review and Target Setting last April 27-29, 2026, at the Forest Crest Nature Hotel and Resort, Nasugbu, Batangas.
The three-day activity, led by the Plant Operation Standards and Monitoring Division (POSMD), was attended by the POSMS Focal Persons and representatives of the NMIS Regional Technical Operation Centers (RTOCs). The Officer-In-Charge, Executive Director, Dr. Fernando N. Lontoc, inspired the group with his opening message and emphasized the need to improve the meat inspection service to be on par with modern international practices. Meat inspection services, along with enforcement and consumer advocacy, are highlighted as the agencyโs priority programs to ensure meat safety and quality for consumers.
The activity served as an essential venue to take a look into the agencyโs strengths, identify areas for improvement, and develop activities to strengthen plant operations and meat inspection. It provided a platform to harmonize plant operation programs, strengthen coordination across the different regional offices, and bridge stakeholders' needs in response to our volatile, uncertain, complex, and ambiguous (VUCA) environment. Through this initiative, NMIS reaffirms its commitment to uplift public service and ensure the continuous delivery of safe and quality meat for all.
