Business leaders, entrepreneurs, professionals, government representatives, and development partners gathered at The Courtyard by Marriott Iloilo on July 24, 2026, for What's Up Western Visayas 2026, a regional business conference that highlighted the importance of collaboration, innovation, and purpose-driven leadership in advancing local economic growth.
Centered on the theme, "Global Perspectives, Local Impact: Elevating Ilonggo Businesses Through Purpose-Driven Leadership," the conference featured industry experts who shared practical insights on leadership, artificial intelligence, marketing, finance, entrepreneurship, sustainability, and business development.
Representing Governor Arthur R. Defensor, Jr., Provincial Administrator Dr. Raul N. Banias emphasized that while global developments continue to shape local economies, the Province of Iloilo remains steadfast in pursuing its long-term vision under the MoRProGRes development agenda. He highlighted the Provincial Government's continued investments in human capital development, innovation, digital transformation, and performance-driven governance to ensure that Iloilo remains resilient, competitive, and prepared for the future.
Dr. Banias likewise underscored the Province's commitment to sustainable development through initiatives on the circular economy, water security, and forest conservation, while strengthening partnerships with the private sector to expand investment opportunities, support high-value industries such as coffee and cacao, and enhance tourism infrastructure across the province.
He concluded by reaffirming the Provincial Government's strong partnership with the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry โ Iloilo Chapter (PCCI-Iloilo), stressing that its support for the business sector goes beyond words and is reflected in concrete programs, strategic investments, dedicated resources, and purpose-driven leadership.
The conference provided a valuable venue for exchanging ideas, fostering collaboration, and reinforcing the shared commitment of the public and private sectors to build a more innovative, competitive, and inclusive Western Visayas.
