HAPPY 3RD ANNIVERSARY, MOLO DISTRICT SOLO PARENT ASSOCIATION!
Three years ago, I was honored to be invited to your induction ceremony as the first district to have been federated. That occasion was more than just a celebration—it was the beginning of a journey that would deeply inspire me.
I listened to the stories of our determined and courageous Solo Parents—stories of strength, sacrifice, resilience, and perseverance despite the many difficulties and struggles they faced in life. Their stories made me ask, “In what ways can I help?”
I began listening to you, together with our social workers, and learning more about your needs, challenges, and hopes. From those conversations and your experiences, the Comprehensive Solo Parent Ordinance of Iloilo City was conceptualized—an effort to ensure that our solo parents are seen, heard, supported, and empowered.
Three years later, we celebrate not only the anniversary of your association, but also the strength of a community that has grown together. Your journey reminds us that being a solo parent is never an easy path, but no parent should have to walk that path alone.
What makes this celebration even more meaningful for me is seeing some of our members who are no longer solo parents because they have found their partners. Yet, despite that change in their lives, they continue to come back, celebrate with you, support you, and share their stories and encouragement.
For me, that is the true spirit of community.
The bond you have formed goes beyond the circumstances that brought you together. It has become a family—one that continues to welcome, encourage, and lift each other up. And seeing former solo parents return to help and inspire those who are still walking the journey today is truly heartwarming.
May you continue to be a source of strength and hope to one another. May your association continue to uplift families, create opportunities, and build a community where every solo parent knows that they are valued, they are heard, and they are never alone.
