The Iloilo Provincial Government continues to strengthen its commitment to a more responsive and person-centered HIV program through evidence-informed action.
A recent qualitative audit examining HIV referral pathways in a rural hospital setting marks an important first step toward improving how services are delivered across the province. By identifying operational gaps, highlighting frontline adaptations, and documenting person-centered practices, the initiative provides valuable insights to guide more integrated and responsive HIV care systems in Iloilo.
This work reflects a strong collaborative effort among the Hospital Management Office, Provincial Health Office, and Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office, made possible through the memorandum of understanding between the Iloilo Provincial Government and the Sustained Health Initiatives of the Philippines (SHIP). The partnership demonstrates how coordinated action across agencies can generate meaningful, practice-based evidence to inform policy and program improvements.
The study has been accepted for poster presentation at the Asia-Pacific AIDS and Co-Infection Conference (APACC) 2026, one of the leading platforms for HIV and co-infections research in the Asia-Pacific region. This recognition highlights the relevance of Iloiloโs local initiatives within the broader regional context.
We also extend our gratitude to RISE Clinic and Rep. Pedro G. Trono Memorial Hospital for serving as the study sites and for their active participation in this important work.
Together, these efforts move Iloilo closer to a more inclusive, coordinated, and person-centered approach to HIV care.
