ILOILO CITYโ In April 23, 2026, the Metro Iloilo-Guimaras Economic Development Council (MIGEDC) proudly welcomed the Iranun Development Council, established in 2002โan alliance of Parang, Matanog, Barira, and Buldon municipalities from the Bangsamoro regionโin a landmark study tour designed to share Iloiloโs proven strategies for inclusive economic growth and sustainable development.
The IDC delegation was composed of Hon. Cahar P. Ibay, Municipal Mayor of Parang and IDC Chairperson; Hon. Zohria S. Bansil-Guro, Municipal Mayor of Matanog and IDC Vice Chairperson; Hon. Pahmia A. Manalao-Masurong, Municipal Mayor of Buldon; and Hon. Abdul Rauf D. Tomawis, Municipal Mayor of Barira.
IDC delegates toured the vibrant Iloilo City Terminal Market and Central Market, witnessing firsthand the success of public-private partnerships that have strengthened local commerce.
Later, a lively exchange of ideas took place at the Iloilo City Hall Penthouse Auditorium, where MIGEDC, represented by Ms. Fiebe Rosal of the MIGEDC-Program Management Office, shared insights on collaborative governance and economic models, after IDC shared their own structure, framework, and cultural background, as presented by IDC Executive Director, Mr. Saipona Zaman.
This engagement reflects MIGEDCโs commitment to promote regional cooperation and empowering neighboring communities through knowledge-sharing and collaboration.
