The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) issued Labor Advisory No. 17, Series of 2026, prescribing rules on the payment of wages for employees who work on regular holidays, special non-working days, and the special working day in 2027, pursuant to Proclamation No. 1427, Series of 2026.

DOLE IFO HEAD SIAOTONG HONORED AS BEST MENTOR

DOLE Iloilo Field Office (DOLE IFO) Head Dr. Arlyn E. Siaotong, received the Best Mentor Award for the Department of Labor and Employment during the Pagpupugay sa mga Huwarang Kawani ng DOLE held on 02 October 2026 at Luxent Hotel, Quezon City, Philippines, honoring exemplary employees who have demonstrated dedication, integrity, and excellence in public service.

Dr. Siaotong’s recognition highlights her commitment to mentoring, empowering, and developing DOLE personnel, fostering a culture of professionalism, teamwork, and excellence in the delivery of labor and employment services to workers and communities.

The achievement is likewise a source of pride for DOLE Region VI, under the leadership of Regional Director Atty. Sixto T. Rodriguez, Jr., as the Region continues to strengthen a workforce committed to responsive, people-centered, and quality public service.

The recognition was led by DOLE Secretary Francis N. Tolentino, who honored 39 loyalty awardees, 11 retirees, and other exemplary personnel for their years of dedicated service to the Department and the Filipino workers.

DOLE IFO warmly congratulates Dr. Arlyn E. Siaotong, on this well-deserved recognition. Her Best Mentor Award is a testament to her exemplary leadership and the lasting impact of her guidance in shaping dedicated and competent public servants.

DOLE Iloilo Engages 146 Food Delivery Riders in TUPAD

A total of 146 Grab and Food Panda food delivery riders participated in the Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers (TUPAD) Orientation last 12 September 2026, marking another step toward providing temporary employment opportunities and immediate assistance to workers in need.

Under the implementation, the beneficiaries are being assigned to selected public schools in Iloilo City, where they will undertake community-based activities that contribute to the cleanliness, maintenance, and improvement of school facilities. The TUPAD implementation is already ongoing, allowing the beneficiaries to earn temporary income while contributing to safer and more conducive learning environments for students.

The initiative reflects the commitment of DOLE Iloilo Field Office (IFO) Head Dr. Arlyn E. Siaotong to ensure that DOLE programs reach workers at the community level and provide meaningful assistance to sectors seeking livelihood and employment support.

The program is aligned with the direction of DOLE RO6 Regional Director Atty. Sixto T. Rodriguez, Jr. to strengthen the delivery of employment programs and services across Western Visayas, while supporting the continuing thrust of DOLE Secretary Francis N. Tolentino to bring responsive, people-centered employment assistance closer to Filipino workers and communities through programs such as TUPAD.

For the 146 food delivery riders, TUPAD serves not only as a source of temporary income but also as an opportunity to give back to the community by helping improve selected schools in Iloilo City, turning employment assistance into meaningful service.

Through TUPAD, DOLE continues to bring opportunities closer to workers, creating income, strengthening communities, and building better spaces for the Filipino people.

𝐢𝐅𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞 | Sometimes, a single stroke of luck is all it takes to open new doors for young dreamers. No matter how daunting life’s hurdles may seem, when opportunity meets preparedness founded on grit and perseverance, no storm can stand in the way of success.

Driven to put himself through college, Jeomar L. Jaranilla Jr. constantly sought ways to earn while pursuing his degree in Bachelor of Science in Marine Transportation at John B. Lacson Foundation Maritime University–Arevalo in Iloilo City. Starting in his freshman year, he served as a student aide and secured four consecutive years as a beneficiary of the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE)’s Special Program for Employment of Students (SPES), an initiative offering temporary employment to qualified youth during school breaks.

Through SPES, Jeomar earned income during school breaks to help cover his allowance and school-related expenses while gaining valuable work experience.

PUBLIC ADVISORY: 34th National Family Week and Kainang Pamilya Mahalaga Day

Pursuant to the Office of the President Memorandum Circular No. 136, DOLE R06 and its Field Offices will suspend work on 28 September 2026 (Monday) starting at 1:00 P.M., in observance of the 34th National Family Week and Kainang Pamilya Mahalaga Day.

Regular office operations will resume on September 29, 2026 (Tuesday).
