46th JCI Philippines Visayas Area Conference (AREACON) September 5, 2026, at Casa Real Iloilo.

The Office of the Local Youth Development Officer with The Office of the Local Economic Development and Investment Promotion (LEDIP), in partnership with The Tagatig Tigbauan Artist Hub, joined the event by showcasing artworks created by young artists.

The initiative aims to engage the youth and provide them with a platform to showcase their creativity, talents, and perspectives through art.

With this year’s theme, “Hala Bira: The Rhythm of Change,” the conference brings together young leaders from across the Visayas to promote leadership, collaboration, and positive change.

𝐈𝐋𝐎–𝐔𝐍𝐈𝐎𝐍 𝐁𝐄𝐍𝐂𝐇𝐌𝐀𝐑𝐊𝐈𝐍𝐆 𝐀𝐂𝐓𝐈𝐕𝐈𝐓𝐘

The Office of the Local Youth Development Officer (OLYDO), together with the different offices of the Iloilo Provincial Government, participated in the Ilo–Union Benchmarking Activity with the Province of La Union. The activity provided an avenue for the Province of La Union to learn from the programs, innovations, and best practices implemented by the Province of Iloilo.

As part of the activity, the OLYDO presented its various youth development programs, initiatives, and best practices, highlighting the Province of Iloilo’s approaches in empowering young people, strengthening youth participation, and delivering responsive youth-focused services.

The benchmarking activity also allowed the OLYDO and other participating provincial offices to share experiences, strategies, and innovations with the Province of La Union. Through this exchange, the activity strengthened inter-provincial learning and collaboration and provided opportunities for the shared practices to be adapted and further improved to address the needs of the youth and communities.

The Office of the Local Youth Development Officer joined the Teen Center Day 2026 celebration where more than 700 members of the Province of Iloilo’s Teen Center community came together on September 3 at the Iloilo Convention Center.

Carrying the theme, “Empowering Youth. Inspiring Change. Building the Future,” the celebration brought young people together in an inspiring gathering that highlights youth participation, connection, and their important role in shaping a better future.

The Iloilo Provincial Government, led by Governor Arthur R. Defensor, Jr., officially opened the 126th Civil Service Anniversary and Civil Service Month Celebration 2026 through an opening ceremony at the Iloilo Sports Complex, Iloilo City.

Provincial officials and employees came together to celebrate teamwork, friendship, and pride in public service. The activity also aimed to promote employee wellness and provide a chance for everyone to relax and connect outside their usual work.

The celebration featured a cheer-dance competition and an exciting LGBT Basketball Game, giving employees an enjoyable start to the month-long activities.

More sports, ballgames, and recreational activities are lined up throughout the month, giving provincial employees more opportunities to stay active, strengthen teamwork, and enjoy time with their fellow employees.

The 126th Philippine Civil Service Anniversary is more than a celebration. It is also a way of recognizing the dedication and hard work of government employees who continue to serve the people of Iloilo with commitment and excellence.

The Provincial Council for Culture, Arts, History and Tourism (PCCAHT), established pursuant to Executive Order No. 049, Series of 2026, formally convened its members and representatives for its meeting on August 26, 2026, at Zuri Hotel, Iloilo City.

The meeting focused on the organization and operationalization of the Council, including its functions, priority programs, coordination mechanisms, and initial activities in line with the provisions of the Executive Order.

The gathering marked an important step toward strengthening collaboration among concerned offices and stakeholders in advancing the preservation, promotion, development, and sustainability of Iloilo’s rich culture, arts, history, and tourism.

Through this initiative, the Province of Iloilo continues to foster a unified and collaborative approach in safeguarding its cultural heritage while promoting initiatives that contribute to the province’s continued growth and identity.

The Paragons: Bugal sang Iloilo Awards – Year 3 formally recognized and conferred honors upon outstanding Sangguniang Kabataan Chairpersons, Sangguniang Kabataan Councils, Municipal Federations, Federation Presidents, and Youth Organizations across the Province of Iloilo for their exemplary performance, innovative practices, and significant contributions to youth development. The awarding ceremony was held on August 22, 2026, at Casa Real, Iloilo City.

The program serves as an institutional platform for recognizing and promoting excellence, innovation, and exemplary leadership within the youth sector. By highlighting notable accomplishments and best practices, the Paragons Awards aims to encourage youth leaders and organizations to sustain meaningful initiatives and actively contribute to the development of stronger, more progressive, and empowered communities throughout the Province of Iloilo.

The Office of the Local Youth Development Officer (OLYDO) participated in the 3rd Quarter Nationwide Earthquake Drill and coordination meeting by the Iloilo Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management last 27 August 2026, an initiative aimed at strengthening preparedness, awareness, and coordinated response to earthquake-related emergencies.

The activity provided an opportunity for participating offices and partner agencies to review emergency protocols, clarify roles and responsibilities, and enhance coordination mechanisms to ensure a prompt and organized response during disasters. The earthquake drill also served as a practical exercise to assess the readiness of personnel and reinforce the importance of safety and preparedness in the workplace and community.

The Office of the Local Youth Development Officer (OLYDO) in collaboration with the Provincial Agriculture Office, Philippine Coconut Authority (PCA), Department of Agriculture, and partner agencies celebrated the 2nd Iloilo Provincial Coconut Week, held on August 24–28, 2026.

With the theme “Engaging and Inspiring the Youth Today in Agriculture Industry,” the celebration highlights the vital role of young people in building a stronger and more sustainable future for agriculture and the coconut industry.

The celebration kicked off with the Opening Program and Ribbon-Cutting Ceremony, followed by the Coconut Exhibit Tour, featuring local products, innovations, technologies, and opportunities for the agricultural sector.

Through initiatives like this, we continue to engage, inspire, and empower the Ilonggo youth to take part in agriculture and become future leaders of the industry.
