𝐈𝐥𝐨𝐢𝐥𝐨 𝐬𝐞𝐭𝐬 𝐛𝐲𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐜𝐡 𝐦𝐨𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠, 𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐩𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐞 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐦 𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐨 𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧
The Iloilo Provincial Government convened a coordination meeting on Friday with concerned offices and stakeholders to launch the full implementation of Executive Order No. 72, Series of 2026.
Executive Order 72 establishes the province's Marine Wildlife Conservation, Bycatch Monitoring, and Stranding Response Program which is designed to protect coastal biodiversity and strengthen emergency responses for marine life.
A highlight of the meeting was the introduction of the Task Force members responsible for driving the program's success.
The Task Force will be chaired by Gov. Arthur Defensor Jr. with members from the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources, Department of Environment and Natural Reaources, Philippine Coast Guard, University of the Philippines Visayas, and Southeast Asian Fisheries Development Center (SEAFDEC), among others.
Present at the meeting, BFAR Region VI Regional Director Remia Aparri commended the provincial government for its initiative in safeguarding local marine ecosystems.

NORTHERN ILOILO ALLIANCE FOR DEVELOPMENT (NIAD) BOARD OF TRUSTEES MEETING

The Northern Iloilo Alliance for Development (NIAD) Board of Trustees convened in a meeting led by Mayor Nielo Tupas, Chairman of the Alliance, with mayors and representatives from member municipalities, Sangguniang Panlalawigan 5th District Representatives SP Nielito Tupas and SP Rolex Suplico, and partner agencies and institutions.

𝗦𝗮𝗻 𝗗𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗶𝘀𝗶𝗼 𝗙𝗔𝗥𝗠𝗖 𝗕𝗼𝗼𝘀𝘁𝘀 𝗔𝗱𝘃𝗼𝗰𝗮𝗰𝘆 𝗦𝗸𝗶𝗹𝗹𝘀 𝗧𝗵𝗿𝘂 𝗙𝗶𝘀𝗵𝗲𝗿𝘆 𝗟𝗮𝘄, 𝗜𝗘𝗖 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗸𝘀𝗵𝗼𝗽

San Dionisio, Iloilo – The members of the Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Management Council (FARMC) of San Dionisio acquired increased knowledge on fishery laws and improved their ability to communicate through the Orientation on Fishery Laws and Related Policies and the Workshop on Basic Pamphlet Making spearheaded by the Department of Agriculture – Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (DA-BFAR) Regional Fisheries Office VI, in collaboration with the Local Government of San Dionisio, last July 29, 2026.

The workshop also included the assessment of the current level of development of the FARMC, wherein DA-BFAR VI gave insights and recommendations to further improve the capability of the council as the Bureau’s partner in managing the fisheries sector. Through the combination of policy orientation and communication skills training, DA-BFAR VI continues to develop the FARMC members into more efficient advocates of sustainable fisheries and coastal resource management. # # #
