𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗵𝗲𝗮𝗿𝘁, 𝗴𝗿𝗼𝘄𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗴𝗵 𝘀𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗶𝗰𝗲.
At the heart of the 𝗟𝗮𝗸𝗮𝘀 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗵 𝗢𝗿𝗴𝗮𝗻𝗶𝘇𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 (𝗟𝗬𝗢) is a simple yet powerful belief: service creates opportunities for students to discover their voice, strengthen their purpose, and grow into leaders who lead with heart.
On 𝗔𝘂𝗴𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝟭𝟱, 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲, LYO, in partnership with the 𝗗𝘂𝗺𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗮𝘀 𝗡𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗛𝗶𝗴𝗵 𝗦𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗼𝗹 𝗦𝘂𝗽𝗿𝗲𝗺𝗲 𝗦𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗱𝗮𝗿𝘆 𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗻𝗲𝗿 𝗚𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 (𝗦𝗦𝗟𝗚), spearheaded 𝐋𝐄𝐀𝐏 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔: 𝐋𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐩 𝐄𝐱𝐜𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐏𝐚𝐫𝐥𝐢𝐚𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐫𝐲 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐜𝐞𝐝𝐮𝐫𝐞 𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠, a whole-day leadership development program centered on its guiding call: “𝗘𝗺𝗽𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗦𝘁𝘂𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗱, 𝗦𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗜𝗻𝘀𝗽𝗶𝗿𝗲.”
The day began with preliminaries, an icebreaker, and the introduction of the facilitators before moving into the first training session, “𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗛𝗲𝗮𝗿𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝗦𝘁𝘂𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽,” facilitated by 𝗖𝗵𝗿𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗮𝗻 𝗗𝗼𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗶𝗰 𝗔𝗯𝗼𝗹𝘂𝗰𝗶𝗼𝗻, 𝗧𝗢𝗦𝗜𝗔 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲. The discussion invited student leaders to look beyond positions and understand the heart and purpose behind leadership.
The morning continued with “𝗣𝗮𝗿𝗹𝗶𝗮𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗿𝘆 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗰𝗲𝗱𝘂𝗿𝗲,” facilitated by 𝗦𝗵𝗮𝗹𝗲𝗻𝗲 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗴𝗿𝗲𝘁𝗲 𝗝𝗼𝘆 𝗖𝗮𝗰𝗵𝘂𝗲𝗹𝗮, where participants explored the proper processes behind student leadership, decision-making, and organizational responsibility.
But 𝗟𝗘𝗔𝗣 was never meant to be all about sitting, listening, and taking notes.
After lunch, the participants came together through 𝗰𝗵𝗲𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘆𝗲𝗹𝗹𝘀 and 𝘁𝗲𝗮𝗺-𝗯𝘂𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗲𝘀, creating spaces for camaraderie, cooperation, and collective learning. Through every station and challenge, leadership was transformed from something discussed into something experienced.
The afternoon then shifted inward through 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗰𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗥𝗲𝗳𝗹𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻, followed by “𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝗶𝘁𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗦𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗶𝗰𝗲” and a 𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝗶𝘁𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗖𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗺𝗼𝗻𝘆, a meaningful reminder that leadership carries a responsibility beyond the title: the responsibility to serve.
And just like 𝗗𝘂𝗺𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗮𝘀, where water runs beneath the sea, 𝘀𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗶𝗰𝗲 𝗿𝘂𝗻𝘀 𝗯𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗵 𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽.
It may not always be the part people see, but it is what keeps leadership moving. Beneath every position is a responsibility. Beneath every voice is a purpose. And beneath every leader should always be a heart willing to serve.
𝗟𝗘𝗔𝗣 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲 became more than a training, it became a shared experience of 𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴, 𝗿𝗲𝗳𝗹𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻, 𝘁𝗲𝗮𝗺𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸, and 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗺𝗶𝘁𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁. A day where young leaders were reminded that leadership is not simply about being heard, but about using your voice to create meaningful change.
Our deepest appreciation is extended to the 𝗗𝘂𝗺𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗮𝘀 𝗡𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗛𝗶𝗴𝗵 𝗦𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗼𝗹 𝗦𝘂𝗽𝗿𝗲𝗺𝗲 𝗦𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗱𝗮𝗿𝘆 𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗻𝗲𝗿 𝗚𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁, under the advisory of 𝗦𝗶𝗿 𝗣𝗮𝘂𝗹 𝗦𝘂𝗽𝗮𝗽𝗼, for opening its doors and working alongside LYO in making this day of learning and leadership possible.
Because at LYO, we believe that every student carries a 𝘀𝗲𝗲𝗱 𝗼𝗳 𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽.
And through 𝘀𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗶𝗰𝗲, 𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴, and 𝗽𝘂𝗿𝗽𝗼𝘀𝗲, we continue to help those seeds grow.
